Your Team Responsibilities
MSCI is seeking an exceptional individual to join the Strats & AI Transformation R&D team in Budapest. The team develops the core index construction and analytics platforms used across MSCI while leading the design of AI-enabled research infrastructure, developer tooling, and modeling frameworks that accelerate innovation and promote architectural consistency across the firm.
As part of MSCI's Global Research and Product Development organization, the team works closely with research, product management, engineering, and client coverage teams around the world. Together, they shape the firm's research agenda, build innovative capabilities, and deliver industry-leading products that leverage MSCI's global expertise and scale.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance the MSCI Index Development Platform and the IndexMetrics Real-Time application using modern software engineering practices, Python, Azure, and AI-assisted development tools.
- Champion AI-enabled software development across the organization by evaluating emerging tools, developing best practices, delivering training, and providing technical guidance to engineering and research teams.
- Contribute to innovative quantitative research initiatives, including factor investing and alternative data projects, supporting the full lifecycle from research and prototyping through implementation, client engagement, and product delivery.
Your skills and experience that will help you excel
- Excellent Python software development skills, with experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity, software quality, and developer workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code, identify subtle defects, challenge assumptions, and deliver robust, maintainable solutions.
- Understanding of equity markets, portfolio construction, or quantitative investment processes, or a strong interest in developing expertise in these areas.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across research, engineering, and business teams.
- Experience designing reusable software libraries, frameworks, APIs, or developer platforms is a plus.
- Experience with Azure, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practices is a plus.
