JOB DESCRIPTION

U.S. RMBS Credit Ratings, Assistant Vice President New York

Morningstar DBRS is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its U.S. RMBS Credit Ratings group as an Assistant Vice President in New York. This role will support the analysis and assignment of credit ratings for U.S. residential mortgagebacked securities (RMBS). This role offers the opportunity to deepen your structured finance expertise, work closely with senior analysts, and interact with external market participants in a collaborative and analytical environment.

The ideal candidate brings strong quantitative skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with structured finance or mortgagerelated products.

Job Responsibilities:

Core Analytical Work

  • Conduct RMBS transaction analysis, including assessment of collateral characteristics, deal structures, credit enhancement levels, and legal frameworks.

  • Identify and focus on key credit issues during the newissue rating process.

  • Review and evaluate banker cashflow model outputs, providing feedback on structural assumptions.

Committee & Internal Collaboration

  • Serve as a colead or backup analyst on selected transactions.

  • Present analytical findings to rating committees with clarity and confidence.

  • Collaborate with senior analysts to ensure accurate and consistent application of criteria.

Modeling & Methodology

  • Contribute to the enhancement of structured finance criteria, models, and analytical tools.

  • Perform sensitivities, transaction comparisons, and stresstesting tasks under the guidance of senior team members.

Research & Publications

  • Produce and publish market updates, newsletters, or concise commentary with minimal supervision.

External Engagement

  • Participate in meetings with bankers, issuers, investors, and other market participants to discuss transaction details and analytical considerations.

  • Represent the team professionally in all clientfacing interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in finance, economics, math, engineering, computer science, or a related field.

  • 5-7 years of experience in structured finance, securitization, banking, mortgage finance, or a relevant analytical role.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard Office applications.

  • Organized, deadlinedriven, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly.

Base Salary Compensation Range

$97,854.00-137,910.00

Incentive Target Percentage

20% Annual
