Full Job Description

Position Summary
This position will report to the ED of Markets Management Team within WM Capital Markets and will lead efforts for our Equities (including Fractional Shares Trading) and Lending (fully-paid and securities) businesses. The Lead of Markets Management will be primarily responsible for optimizing the client, Financial Advisor, and trader experience with our trading and lending platforms by leading tactical and strategic initiatives and ensuring the stability and ongoing risk mitigation of daily trading operations. The role will require strong critical thinking and project management skills, comfort with executive level presentations, and familiarity with the daily operations of Equity, Options and Lending trading desks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trading Management Assist in the oversight of the needed policies, processes, reporting, and infrastructure prioritization to ensure the ongoing stability and risk controls for the Equity, Options, and Lending businesses. Focus areas include: partnering with internal and external trading partners to ensure efficient front-to-back trade flow and execution, prioritization and execution of multi-year infrastructure investments, daily supervision of market operations (market access limit monitoring, counterparty management, outage triage, large trade facilitation, funding, best execution)

  • Fully-Paid and Securities Lending Assist in leading our cross-divisional efforts to secure client access to stock lending and short sale opportunities, in partnership with E*trade and our Institutional Securities group. Assist in the identification of daily firm funding requirements, best execution monitoring, daily metrics reporting, pnl signoff, and risk supervision while partnering with E*Trade business teams, platforms, Legal, Compliance, Risk, IT and Operations.

  • Fractional Shares Assist in driving efforts to scale the newly-created Fractional Shares trading business, including connectivity to corporate stock plan, self-directed, and full-service accounts. Supervise the daily PnL, best execution, trading operations, and Volker reporting responsibilities of the principal trading desk.

  • Strategic Initiatives Assist in helping develop and deliver strategic efforts across the CM business. Sample work effort include: competitive landscaping, management reporting development, pricing strategy, product expansion, regulatory compliance, FA and client marketing and education, segmentation strategy. This will require coordination with product managers, senior department management, key support partners (Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance, National Sales), other divisions of MS outside wealth management (MSIM/ISG), and potentially third party vendors.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, accounting or other related fields

  • 5-7 years of previous experience in financial services, preferably in a trading management, trading operations, consulting, strategy, or product management role

  • Active Series 7 required

  • Active Series 63 and 57 (must obtain within 6 months of start)

  • Ability to analyze, summarize, and communicate effectively at an executive level

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating sound reasoning and judgment

  • Strong interpersonal skills - ability to work with various professionals and levels of management across departments

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, and meet assigned deadlines

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $70,000 and $115,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
