Skills and Competencies
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in an accounting, tax, or auditing environment
  • Good accounting knowledge of Mexican GAAP and IFRS
  • Experience working with financial computer applications and accounting systems such as SAP, PeopleSoft, or similar
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, both verbal and written
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Adaptability and willingness to take on new projects and challenges
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of accounting processes including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Payroll, Taxes, T&E, Treasury, Audit, and financial close activities
  • Understanding of internal controls, risks, and compliance requirements
Education
  • Bachelors degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or another business-related discipline
Responsibilities
The Staff Accountant will support the Mexican Accounting team and be responsible for accounting activities related to Moodys businesses in Mexico, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Process accounting transactions and prepare journal entries
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliations
  • Support all aspects of accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Payroll, Taxes, T&E, Treasury, Audit, and financial close processes
  • Ensure compliance with external regulations and internal policies and procedures
  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities
  • Develop a strong understanding of the business and maintain effective working relationships with supporting teams
  • Identify and monitor key controls, risks, and compensating controls within assigned process areas
  • Recognize and communicate changes in operating and internal control environments
  • Support team strategy, goals, and objectives through effective execution of responsibilities
About the Team
The General Accounting team is responsible for supporting Moodys business operations through accurate financial reporting, compliance, and strong accounting practices. The team works collaboratively across functions to ensure adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies while contributing to the organizations overall financial integrity and operational success.
