Project Finance Americas

Project Finance provides clients with a broad range of financial advisory and debt structuring and arrangement services for large-scale, capital-intensive projects. Project Finance Americas scope includes oil, gas, renewables, digital infrastructure, storage, hydro, transmission, transportation, data centers, thermal power, greenfield and acquisition financing. The team works closely with Investment Banking across all sectors and Mizuhos Project Finance platform is a global business which is consistently ranked as a top-tier global Project Finance franchise.

Summary:

  • Play a critical role in structuring, originating and executing non-recourse project finance transactions in the Natural Resources and Power & Infrastructure sector
  • Develop relationships with top tier and emerging developers active in the Natural Resources and Power & Infrastructure space
  • Play a critical role in marketing for new business origination
  • Work closely with internal partners across Capital Markets include Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, Financial Sponsors, Rates / Derivatives, Risk, etc.
  • Liaise with Project Finance colleagues around the world

Duties and Responsibilities:

The role will involve: establishing a foundation in natural resources, renewables, digital infrastructure,  energy transition and power markets, preparation of marketing materials and proposals, calling on clients, attending bank meetings, making presentations, negotiating for mandates, reviewing legal documents and negotiating with clients, structuring transactions, research work, analysis of existing or potential transactions and/or industries, analyzing various risks and preparing credit applications and the development of cash flow models. 

General:

  • Work in partnership with Investment Banking and the Financial Sponsors Group to originate new project finance opportunities comprised of advising and lending as well as obtain mandates and/or execute non-recourse and limited recourse financings
  • Perform the necessary research and analytics (including financial statement analysis and cash flow modeling) required for the above.
  • Perform execution of arranger, agent and FA work.
  • Prepare credit applications and other internal documents as well as obtain appropriate internal approval for the group to develop Power & Infrastructure sector project finance transactions.
  • Cross-sell other Mizuho financial services, including, but not limited to: Deposits, Derivatives, debt capital markets products and others.

Administrative:

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the groups overall business plan.
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader to establish a business strategy for Natural Resources and Power & Infrastructure client accounts.
  • Supervise the preparation of marketing materials, credit applications, and legal documents.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements may include:

  • MBA, MS or LLM degree with a strong quantitative background, or other relevant work experience
  • 2-4 years of experience in Project Finance
  • 1 year of credit experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

The expected base salary for this role will be in the range of $175k-$225k. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
