Senior Research Analyst - Commodities

We are seeking a Centralized Energy Analyst to support various trading teams within our commodities business, with primary coverage across North American Power/Natural Gas and related macro/fundamental drivers. This seat will serve as a shared research resource across various portfolio managers and traders, producing actionable views, market intelligence, and cross-commodity analysis that inform relative value, directional, and event-driven trading.

The ideal candidate combines deep energy market knowledge, strong quantitative skills, and the ability to turn fragmented market data into clear trade-relevant insights. This role is research-intensive and fast-paced, with a focus on identifying dislocations, monitoring catalysts, and improving the investment teams understanding of interconnected energy markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build repeatable analytical frameworks that enhance the platforms edge.
  • Develop and maintain fundamental and market-based views across North American energy markets.
  • Produce centralized research on supply/demand balances, storage, flows, outages, weather impacts, policy, seasonality, and cross-commodity linkages.
  • Support traders and portfolio managers with timely pre-trade analysis, scenario work, catalyst tracking, and post-mortem reviews.
  • Partner with data, risk, and technology teams to improve data quality, analytics infrastructure, and research workflows.
  • Help identify investment opportunities across regions, tenors, and related energy commodities.
  • Contribute to idea generation for futures, options, swaps, and spreads across the energy complex.
  • Become a trusted resource across multiple investment teams

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in energy research, commodity trading, investment analysis, or market analytics.
  • Strong understanding of financially traded energy markets.
  • Experience building analytical models in Python, Excel, SQL, or similar tools.
  • Strong grasp of fundamental and market data sources relevant to commodity investing.
  • Ability to synthesize large volumes of information into clear, decision-useful investment conclusions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a high-performance, fast-moving environment.
