Platform Engineer - Python

About Millennium
Millennium is a global, diversified alternative investment firm, founded in 1989. Defined by evolution, innovation and focus, Millenniums mission is to deliver results for our investors.

Our people are empowered with both independence and support: the autonomy to pursue ideas with conviction and the backing of a global network committed to collaboration, disciplined risk management and continuous learning. With opportunities to deepen expertise and accelerate development, talent at Millennium is equipped to adapt, evolve and build lasting impact over time. Discover how transformative growth accelerates impact.

Meet the Team
We are looking for a Platform Engineer to join our WorldQuant Aligned Infrastructure team and work closely with our quantitative researchers to build, extend, and maintain the systems that power their research and production workflows. This is a hands-on software engineering role where you'll be writing production-quality code (primarily in Python, with some C++) and partnering directly with quants to translate complex ideas into robust, performant software. We believe that delivering exceptional services requires the ability to make meaningful changes across the entire stack. Our mission is to solve real business challenges, reduce operational complexities, and foster a collaborative, team-driven environment that promotes mutual growth and success.

What You'll Do

Design, build, and enhance proprietary systems and tools that enable research ideas to move into production and drive real business impact
Partner closely with quantitative researchers to understand requirements and translate complex ideas into reliable, well-engineered software
Develop production-quality software primarily in Python, with some contribution to C++ components across the stack
Solve complex algorithmic and data structure problems where correctness, scalability, and performance are all critical
Help maintain and extend the platforms that support research and production workflows
Participate in code reviews and design discussions, and contribute to strong engineering standards and best practices
Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and implementation approaches clearly with both engineers and quantitative researchers

What You Bring

Strong software engineering fundamentals, with a high bar for code quality, correctness, and maintainability
Advanced Python skills, including the ability to write clean, idiomatic code and solve complex programming challenges effectively
Strong foundation in data structures and algorithms, with the ability to evaluate complexity and implement the right solution cleanly
Demonstrated problem-solving ability, sound judgment, and close attention to detail
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively with both quantitative researchers and engineers
Advanced user-level experience working in Linux environments
Collaborative mindset and the confidence to work closely with domain experts in a highly technical setting
Experience with C++, quantitative finance, scientific computing, or performance-sensitive and numerically oriented systems is a plus
