Front End Engineer

About Millennium

Millennium is a global, diversified alternative investment firm, founded in 1989. Defined by evolution, innovation and focus, Millenniums mission is to deliver results for our investors.

Our people are empowered with both independence and support: the autonomy to pursue ideas with conviction and the backing of a global network committed to collaboration, disciplined risk management and continuous learning. With opportunities to deepen expertise and accelerate development, talent at Millennium is equipped to adapt, evolve and build lasting impact over time. Discover how transformative growth accelerates impact.

Meet the Team

The Information Technology department is core to the health and growth of Millenniums business. The firms active, multi-manager model demands flexible, scalable technology and advanced proprietary systems, including the development of next-generation analytical and trading capabilities. This team partners closely across product, quantitative, and engineering functions to deliver high-performance technology that supports real-time decision-making in fast-moving trading environments.

We are looking for a Front-End Developer to build and maintain high-performance, low-latency user interfaces for trading applications. You will work closely with UI engineers, algorithmic developers, product, quantitative, and backend engineering teams to deliver real-time data visualizations, workflows, and dashboards that support trading and risk management. This role is ideal for an experienced React engineer who cares deeply about performance, reliability, and clean UX.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain React-based user interfaces that power core trading application workflows
  • Implement real-time data visualizations for orders, prices, positions, and other key metrics using streaming technologies such as WebSockets
  • Turn product requirements and stakeholder feedback into intuitive, efficient, and scalable user experiences, rapidly prototyping and iterating on new features
  • Optimize front-end performance, responsiveness, and reliability across complex, data-intensive screens
  • Partner with backend engineers to integrate REST and WebSocket APIs, as well as WebAssembly-based components
  • Write clean, testable, well-structured code supported by unit and integration tests
  • Provide best practices around code reviews, front-end architecture decisions, and developer-level production support for front-end components
  • Prototype, iterate, and support front-end components in production to ensure a high-quality user experience

What You Bring

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience building web applications with JavaScript/TypeScript and React in production, including experience with hooks, functional components, and modern patterns
  • Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3
  • Experience building real-time data UIs, including tables, charts, and dashboards, using WebSockets, SSE, or similar streaming technologies
  • Experience with state management tools such as Redux, Zustand, or similar
  • Ability to leverage LLM-assisted tools, such as code assistants, effectively in the development workflow
  • Experience in fixed-income capital markets or other capital markets, specifically with concepts such as positions, P&L, risk metrics, and market data, is a plus
  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate directly with non-technical stakeholders
