Role Summary 

We are looking for an ambitious, commercially driven individual to join Marex as a junior energy broker in Singapore. This is a front office, client-facing role focused on covering East Asian institutional clients across energy commodity derivatives. 

You will work alongside experienced senior brokers from day one learning the business, building client relationships and developing the skills to run your own book over time. No prior broking experience is required. We are hiring for attitude, language skills and the instinct to build lasting client relationships in a high-performance environment. 

The role is focused on covering institutional clients across energy commodity derivatives, supporting primarily East Asia client portfolio. The successful candidate is expected to communicate directly with institutional clients who conduct their business in their respective local language.

All employees are expected to understand and comply with any Sarbanes Oxley operational requirements relevant to their role.

Overall Responsibilities 

  • Supporting senior brokers in covering East Asian institutional clients across energy commodity derivatives  
  • Assisting with the onboarding of new client relationships and the maintenance of existing ones 
  • Engaging with and updating clients on market developments and product activity 
  • Collaborating with central operations functions including Operations and Technology
  • Contributing to efforts to increase P&L through analysis of markets and products
  • Supporting the preparation of internal frameworks and process improvements as required

Standard Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with the Company's regulatory requirements under the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the National Futures Association (NFA) 
  • Adhering to the operational risk framework for your role, ensuring all regulatory and Company-determined parameters are met 
  • Acting as a role model for the highest standards of integrity and conduct, and reflecting Company values at all times 
  • Complying with Marex's Code of Conduct 
  • Maintaining full awareness of and adherence to internal policies relevant to your role and responsibilities 
  • Reporting any policy breaches to Compliance and/or your supervisor as required 
  • Escalating risk events immediately 
  • Contributing to risk management processes as required 
  • The Company may require you to carry out other duties from time to time

  • Fluency in client's local language is essential, both written and spoken.
  • Experience in a client-facing or service-oriented role; financial services background is not required

  • Resilience and composure under pressure in a dynamic environment 
  • A basic understanding of financial markets is helpful; structured training will be provided 
  • Fresh graduates and candidates with limited experience in the brokerage industry are welcome to apply 
  • Experience in a regulated environment and awareness of associated risk and compliance requirements is advantageous
