Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Enterprise Data Engineer to lead the development of enterprise-scale data integration and data product capabilities across the organisation. This role will help advance the firm's data strategy by delivering trusted, reusable data assets and modern integration services that enable business agility, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision making.
The role is responsible for designing and implementing resilient ingestion, orchestration, and provisioning solutions using service-based and event-driven architectures. Working closely with data, platform, application, operations, and business teams, the successful candidate will establish engineering patterns and integration capabilities that support critical business systems, regulatory reporting, analytics, machine learning, and AI-driven solutions.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong technical leadership, a passion for automation and operational excellence, and the ability to deliver scalable solutions that meet the needs of a fast-growing global financial services organisation.
Responsibilities
Role specific:
- Design, build, and maintain strategic enterprise data products that provide trusted, governed, and low-friction access to data across the organisation.
- Design and implement resilient data ingestion, orchestration, and provisioning solutions to support operational, regulatory, analytical, machine learning, and AI-driven use cases.
- Deliver service-based and event-driven integration capabilities using APIs, API Gateways, event streaming, webhooks, and other enterprise integration patterns.
- Develop scalable source-provider onboarding solutions, ensuring data is traceable, validated, and aligned with agreed publication contracts and data standards.
- Build and maintain high-performance data pipelines capable of processing large-scale, distributed workloads while meeting operational and regulatory requirements.
- Implement data quality controls, monitoring, observability, and operational metrics to improve the reliability and resilience of enterprise data products.
- Define and implement automated testing practices for data and integration solutions, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Apply software engineering and SDLC best practices, including source control, code review, CI/CD, release management, and infrastructure-as-code principles.
- Establish and promote engineering standards, reusable integration patterns, and reference implementations to improve consistency, scalability, and delivery velocity.
- Partner with data, architecture, governance, platform, operations, application, and business teams to deliver strategic data capabilities, provide technical leadership, and ensure alignment with enterprise standards and objectives.

Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Experience working within regulated environments and a strong understanding of associated governance, risk, compliance, and audit requirements.
- Extensive experience designing and implementing resilient data ingestion, orchestration, and provisioning capabilities for enterprise-scale workloads.
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks (AWS and/or Azure), including Lakehouse architecture, distributed processing, and production operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven integration architectures.
- Proven expertise designing and implementing enterprise-scale API-led, event-driven, and service-based integration solutions across data platforms, applications, and operational systems.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software engineering practices.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for enterprise data engineering and integration workloads.
- Deep understanding of how integration architectures and engineering practices influence data quality, observability, lineage, traceability, and auditability.
- Experience delivering production-grade data solutions that balance scalability, reliability, security, and operational supportability.
- Ability to operate effectively as both a hands-on engineer and a strategic technical leader, translating business requirements into scalable engineering solutions.
Desirable:
- Experience in financial services, with exposure to ETD and OTC derivative markets highly desirable.
- Handson experience with: Azure Data Factory, Databricks Asset Bundles, Power BI, Dbt, NodeJS, Amazon API Gateway
- Experience working with Kafka or similar
- Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO), Bitbucket, and Gitbased workflows.
- Advanced use of VS Code and developer productivity tooling (e.g. Claude Code, Codex).
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional.
- DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP).
