What role will you play?

In this role, you will balance hands-on technical work with team leadership responsibilities. As a Lead Engineer, youll mentor and support the professional growth of a small team through regular one-on-one sessions, ongoing feedback, and career development planning. You will drive execution by leading sprint planning, managing team priorities, and removing obstacles to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software. Youll set high standards for code quality and operational readiness, collaborate closely with Product Managers and Business Analysts, and take ownership of your teams outcomes by meeting strict Service Level Objectives for availability, performance, and security. 

Utilising your technical expertise, you will lead the design and architecture of scalable, secure microservices and systems that meet the financial industrys requirements. Youll actively contribute to the codebase, focusing on complex and critical components, and conduct thorough code reviews to maintain quality. Your role includes shaping the technical roadmap, making key decisions on architecture and tools, and serving as the technical escalation point to guide your team through challenging production incidents and debugging issues.

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a formal or informal leadership role (e.g., Tech Lead, Senior/Staff Engineer with mentorship responsibilities)
  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C#, Go, or Python.
  • Proven experience designing and building complex, distributed systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about technical and business challenges
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
