What you'll be doing

We're looking for an experienced governance professional with previous experience in a board or committee support role within a listed organisation to join the Group Secretariat.


The role supports the Head of Board Governance and Heritage in delivering end to end support for board and committee activities, ensuring a seamless and professional experience for directors and stakeholders. It involves acting as a key liaison between Non Executive Directors, executive leadership and internal teams, while coordinating meetings, offsites and strategy sessions.


Youll be a highly motivated individual who is detail oriented, pragmatic and able to prioritise in a complex and fast paced environment. The role holder must be discreet and capable of communicating with board members, senior executives and other key stakeholders across a wide range of sensitive topics.  

Youll get a unique and exciting opportunity to gain insight across Group Secretariat, establish relationships and play a key role in the delivery of first-class governance service to the board, board committees and executive committees, ensuring that they meet corporate governance, legal and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • supporting the delivery of board and committee activity, including preparing draft agendas, organising and dispatching papers, and assisting with meeting arrangements and logistics

  • assisting with the preparation of board and committee materials by preparing draft minutes, action logs and Chair notes and providing guidance to paper authors on template and format in line with the agreed standards

  • leading end-to-end the arranging and facilitation of board / committee meetings, including meeting support on meeting days (such as IT support, managing guests and presenters and catering)

  • oversight of the administration and governance of the Board portal system, including user access management, and acting as a subject matter expert for its effective use

  • maintaining meeting schedules and support stakeholder coordination, including organising offsites, events and engagement activities

  • maintaining accurate records and data for board and committee activity, supporting compliance with governance requirements and reporting obligations

  • providing general Secretariat support, including responding to queries, supporting Non-Executive Director onboarding and training, and assisting with team projects and administrative activities

  • At a minimum, partqualified, or working towards a professional governance qualification (CGI), with relevant corporate governance experience;
