Be part of the International private bank (IPB) Market Supervisory Management team in Hong Kong, supporting Wealth Management activities through strong supervision and proactive risk management. Youll help safeguard clients and the business by providing oversight across investment activity, suitability, and key controls.
As a Supervisory Manager team lead in the International private bank(IPB) market supervisory management team you will provide first-level control and oversight of the investment business, with a focus on pre-execution trading review, client suitability assessments, and concentration risk monitoring. You will escalate issues as needed, partner closely with front office stakeholders, and support change management tied to investment-related policies, procedures, and frameworks. The work is central to maintaining strong risk and control standards while supporting a high-quality client experience.
Job responsibilities:
- Escalate issues to senior management within all areas of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd lines of defenseLead and manage the Singapore SM (supervisory management) team and remain the Singapore management main point of contactProvide 1st level control and oversight of the investment businessReview and assess client trading activity and any potential suitability issues on a pre-execution basisReview and approve all investment parameters and ensure ongoing adherence to the mandateIndependent review and assessment of client suitability profiles based on data collected from clients and the front officeReview and assess investment concentration issues in client accountsReview English and Chinese materials provided to clients to ensure they are appropriate and aligned to the clients investment objectives and needsReact to, manage and handle potential client situations e.g. trading errorsAttend front office meetings to provide relevant feedback and stay apprised of their current prioritiesPerform change management in respect of changes in policies / procedures / processes where these relate to investment activities e.g. implementation and training on enhanced suitability framework; new trading protocol etcAudit coordination and liaison as requiredOperational Risk reporting and investigation
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Candidates should have at least 10 years with financial institutions in first line of defense oversight and control, supervisory risk and control or related functionsBachelor's degree in business, economics, finance,or related fieldA self-motivated individual who is enthusiastic and has a keen interest in risk and control frameworks as well as the regulatory landscapeExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple work-streams to tight deadlines and re-prioritise as requiredThink like an owner with a business mind-set and able to deal with issues independentlyA strong interest in and sound understanding of financial markets, products and wealth management is prerequisite for any potential candidateStrong and proven experience gained within a financial institutions including monitoring experience.Strong communication and negotiation skills: the role will involve communicating with employees of varying levels, with diverse roles and different native language
- Fluency in English and Chinese is required as this role will be review of China regulations.
