Join the newly established Deal Services Billing Team as a Team Lead!

As a Global Banking Deal Services Billing - Relationship Partner (Team Lead) Vice President in Billing Team, you will own the regional billing operating model and lead end-to-end billing and receivables execution across a portfolio of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), Equity Capital Markets (ECM), and Debt Capital Markets (DCM) transactionspartnering closely with deal teams, clients, and internal stakeholders to deliver a consistent, controlled client experience.

Job responsibilities

  • Own banker coverage for billing: Serve as the senior point of contact for deal teams, setting billing priorities, timing, and expectations; step in on priority/complex matters.
  • Run the pipeline and deliver outcomes: Oversee the regional pipeline and billing milestones, driving timely post-close invoicing and surfacing risks early.
  • Lead cross-functional execution: Coordinate with Business Management, Product Control, Legal, Middle Office/Operations, and Tax to remove blockers, escalate appropriately, and close issues quickly.
  • Drive improvement: Identify recurring pain points and implement workflow, transparency, and operating model enhancements to reduce administrative burden.
  • Ensure compliant billing set-up: Oversee collection and validation of documentation and payment instructions to enable smooth compliance checks and billing execution.
  • Govern external spend: Challenge estimates, secure approvals, enforce SLAs, and address law firm/vendor performance or quality gaps.
  • Ensure invoice quality and controls: Review/approve invoices as required, ensuring correct tax treatment, documentation, and deal team sign-off prior to issuance.
  • Manage escalations: Act as escalation point for sensitive client and vendor billing inquiries, driving timely resolution.
  • Drive collections: Maintain senior oversight of receivables, prioritizing aged items, resolving disputes, and mobilizing bankers/clients to accelerate recovery.
  • Lead the function: Own the billing operating model, day-to-day execution, and a clear RACI across stakeholders.
  • Set direction & drive change: Define priorities, deliver a multi-quarter priorities roadmap, and reduce friction for deal teams through process simplification and better transparency.

     

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Proven leadership in a matrixed environment; ability to deliver through influence.
  • Strong understanding of the investment banking transaction lifecycle (M&A/ECM/DCM).
  • Controls/governance mindset with experience running an execution-focused function.
  • Track record managing KPIs/SLAs and improving quality, timeliness, and throughput.
  • Strong communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills; comfortable with senior escalations.
  • Proficiency with financial systems/tools and using data to drive improvement
