As a Legal Documentation Associate within Equities Operations team, you will support legal confirmations for equity derivatives across the APAC region. Youll draft, review, and negotiate trade documentation for structured equity products, partnering closely with legal, trading, and operations stakeholders. Your work helps reduce risk, improve controls, and ensure documentation aligns with applicable regulatory requirements. Youll also contribute to process improvements that increase efficiency and Straight-Through Processing (STP). This is a detail-oriented role where youll balance precision, pace, and partnership.
Our team supports end-to-end trade documentation outcomes for APAC equity derivatives, collaborating across trading, legal, operations, and change teams. We focus on strong documentation standards, scalable templates, and pragmatic process enhancements that improve quality and client experience.
Job responsibilities
- Draft and review term sheets and International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) confirmations for structured equity products across APAC
- Prepare and review Final Terms and Pricing Supplements under an issuers Euro Medium Term Note (EMTN) program, as applicable
- Negotiate bespoke templates, language, and specific provisions with internal stakeholders, including legal and front office partners
- Assist with preparing and negotiating equity-based Master Confirmation Agreements across APAC
- Resolve legal language questions related to trade confirmations and ISDA definitions in a timely, well-reasoned manner
- Contribute to regulatory readiness for confirmations, including interpreting and implementing regional and cross-border requirements
- Drive process improvements to strengthen controls, streamline workflows, and increase STP outcomes
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Law, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience in an equities middle office or equities operations related role within the financial industry
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Professional fluency in Mandarin to support China-related business needs
- Demonstrated experience drafting structured equity ISDA confirmations
- Working knowledge of Final Terms and Pricing Supplements used for structured notes, as applicable
- Strong understanding of the ISDA 2002 Equity Derivatives Definitions and ISDA 2006 Definitions
- Working knowledge of confirmations-related regulatory requirements in the United States (US) and Europe, including Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) confirmation rules
- Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to partner effectively across functions
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience leading or coordinating change initiatives (e.g., regulatory rollout, control enhancement, documentation remediation)
- Familiarity with Python or Alteryx for workflow automation and analysis
- Interest or experience applying artificial intelligence and Large Language Model (LLM) tools to improve documentation processes and controls
