As a Vice President, Assistant General Counsel in the Innovation, Data, Analytics & Artificial Intelligence Legal team, you will primarily advise and counsel our Payments Chief Data & Analytics Officer for the Commercial and Investment Bank and other business partners on legal matters related to data, analytics, and AI products and services. You will help support our businesses selling data and analytics products by negotiating client agreements and by advising on markets expansion of their data and analytics products. You will be part of a collaborative, global team committed to integrity, inclusivity, and excellence, helping drive responsible innovation and business success.

Job Responsibilities

  • Advising on drafting and negotiating client- and customer-facing contracts
  • Assisting with providing day-to-day legal advice and counsel to internal Payments clients and partners and other businesses in connection with the development, implementation and maintenance of data, analytics, AI or other related technology products and services
  • Collaborating with business teams, as well as colleagues in Legal, Risk, Compliance and other control functions to address and resolve complex issues
  • Advising internal clients on relevant legal, regulatory and market developments in the data, analytics and AI industries

 

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Qualified lawyer with minimum 6 years of legal experience 
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, negotiating and commercial skills
  • Experience practicing with a law firm, financial institution or technology company
  • Ability to prioritize work, effectively manage many issues at one time, and interact effectively with senior management
  • Ability to understand business needs and develop collaborative relationships with internal partners across the supported businesses
  • Effective and efficient problem solver; strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and legal analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workflow in a multi-jurisdictional environment
  • Compliance with relevant licensing requirements for the jurisdiction

 

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Knowledge of intellectual property, data management, artificial intelligence or analytics is a plus, or related corporate transactional or litigation experience with transferable skills/knowledge
  • Experience at a top-tier law firm and in-house in financial services
  • Experience managing legal matters for institutional clients
  • Familiarity with regulatory and dispute resolution processes
  • Track record of supporting product launches and market expansions
