Our Information Security function is focused on building a secure, resilient, and compliant bank through a comprehensive program that integrates governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, and continuous monitoring. As a Junior Cybersecurity Analyst Intern, you will play a key role in enhancing risk visibility, detection capabilities, and response effectiveness by leveraging modern technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cyber defense tooling.

Role Overview

This internship provides hands-on exposure to cybersecurity operations, AI-assisted threat analysis, and regulatory-aligned risk management practices. You will support the team in identifying emerging threats, analyzing security data, and contributing to the implementation of security controls across INGs technology landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing security events using SIEM platforms and AI-driven detection tools.
  • Support threat intelligence and vulnerability analysis to identify emerging cyber risks based on metrics.
  • Contribute to security dashboards and reporting (e.g., Power BI) to improve risk visibility for stakeholders.
  • Participate in basic incident response and investigation activities, including triaging alerts
  • Help evaluate and document controls aligned with key regulations and frameworks.
  • Assist in maintaining cyber hygiene practices, including access reviews, patch tracking, and data protection controls.
  • Collaborate with teams to improve automation where possible and efficiency using AI-enabled cybersecurity tools and process documentations.

  • Interest in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning applications in cybersecurity
  • Basic awareness of cybersecurity regulations and frameworks (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, FFIEC guidelines, NYDFS Part 500)

Technical Skills (Preferred)

  • Exposure to security tools (e.g., SIEM, endpoint protection, vulnerability scanners)
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, ServiceNow, iRisk
  • Basic understanding of scripting or programming (e.g., Python) for automation or analysis
  • Academic or project experience in cybersecurity, data analysis, or AI-related domains

The ITP is an 18-month global traineeship designed to accelerate your development and broaden your exposure across the organization. Throughout the program, youll complete three structured rotations in different business areas, two here in NYC and one abroad, which will offer you the opportunity to build a wide-ranging skillset and strong internal network. Upon successfully completing the program, you will move into a permanent role aligned to your strengths, interests, and performance.
