Full Job Description
Make an impact where it truly matters: at the heart of the banks balance sheet. In this role, you combine analytical depth with meaningful business impact. You translate complex financial and behavioural insights into decisions that shape risk, performance, and strategy helping millions move forward while keeping INGs financial foundation strong.
The team
You join an ambitious and close-knit team of around 30 specialists working at the core of ING Netherlands. Together, you steer the banks balance sheet and manage interest rate and liquidity risks in close collaboration with Group Treasury.
The team operates at the intersection of analytics, strategy and execution. You work on topics such as ALM, hedging and balance sheet optimization, directly influencing pricing, product design and financial performance. The environment combines operational responsibility with strategic decision-making, offering a steep learning curve, strong collaboration, and exposure to a wide range of stakeholders.
Roles and responsibilities
In this role, you take ownership of a significant part of the balance sheet and actively contribute to shaping its risk profile and performance.
Owning and steering a balance sheet perimeter with direct impact on financial results
Managing and hedging interest rate risk to deliver stable margin and Net Interest Income
Analysing and modelling client behaviour (e.g. prepayments, savings, non-maturing deposits) to inform risk and hedging strategies
Translating complex analytical insights into clear, structured recommendations for stakeholders
Advising business teams on pricing and product decisions, balancing commercial objectives with financial risk considerations
Collaborating across teams such as Finance, Risk and Treasury to drive well-informed decisions

Bringing a strong quantitative foundation, supported by an MSc or PhD in a field such as Econometrics, Mathematics, Physics or Engineering
3+ years of experience in financial services (banking, insurance, consulting) with exposure to market risk, ALM / balance sheet management
Solid understanding of IRRBB, ALM concepts, and hedging strategies
Experience with behavioural models (e.g., prepayments, NMDs) is a strong plus
Applying analytical thinking and coding skills (e.g. SQL, Python or R) to generate insights and improve decision-making
Translating technical analyses into clear and impactful communication for a broad range of stakeholders
Building relationships and working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Feeling comfortable navigating both strategic topics and day-to-day operational responsibilities
Being curious, eager to learn, and motivated to grow within financial risk and balance sheet management
