Data Governance Professional

The Scalable Data Services is a key component in the ING Think Forward Strategy. It has been established in the COO Domain to ensure that ING has trustable data which is fully fit for the purpose (timely, complete, accurate, adoptable, comprehensive, consistent, and appropriate), facilitated by a state-of-the-art data architecture and IT infrastructure. 

The Data Governance Professional under the Data Governance Services team will be responsible for: 

  • the day-to-day support for technologies and processes related to the Data Governance capabilities ensuring implementation and monitoring of policies and guidelines in accordance with the banks Data Governance Framework 
  • proactively collaborating with key stakeholders and constantly exploring for opportunities to innovate and automate 
  • providing insights towards continuous service improvements 
  • performing project management and service transition activities for service expansion 

If you: 

  • are a self-starter with a good ability to work in a global team across various locations 
  • have a sound understanding of business principles and concepts including understanding how Data Operations is influenced by financial services functions and processes
  • have a consulting mindset including an ability to think about Data Operations in a way that is abstracted from how business functions currently operate
  • are result-oriented with an ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems 
  • have a Design Thinking capability, which enables big picture view into details required for in-depth analyses
  • have a hands-on mentality in a data-driven setting 
  • fosters trust and sets expectations that differences are embraced within the team
  • have excellent verbal and written communication skills 

If you are good at: 

  • articulating abstract conceptual ideas into measurable observations 
  • improving and maintaining support documentation and means for communications with stakeholders, such as a portal, workplace instructions, or runbooks
  • continuously analyzing trends to prevent recurrence of common incidents and minimize the impact to critical data consumers and stakeholders 
  • designing and/or creating dashboards to produce insights and ensure action is taken on performance below defined thresholds

Who are we looking for? 

We are looking for candidates who are proactive, passionate, and driven to work in a Data Operations team. You are good at stakeholder management, analytical and an experienced problem solver, a good communicator, and are used to working in an agile environment. 

Key Skills for the Role: 

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Strong   relationship       management     experience,       with prior     experience        working collaboratively in a cross functional team 
  • Ability to analyze issues, determine root cause, and develop solutions for improving stability of Data Governance Services  
  • Has a good understanding or experience with Agile Methodology, Scrum framework, or DevOps 
  • Skilled in communicating complex topics and solutions and open to ideas from others. Experienced to communicate by means of Microsoft Office 365, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook 
  • Comfortable working in an international context 
  • Transparent, flexible, and motivated to make every day a success
  • Shared and adhere to the ING values of honesty, prudence, and responsibility 
  • Experienced in Project Management, Service Transition, Development, and/or Test Management is preferred
  • Experienced in working with PowerBI, PowerAutomate, Alteryx, or any similar tools are preferred
