About the position:

The DCM team works closely together with coverage bankers and other product specialists in the ING network advising on capital structures and funding opportunities, and marketing and executing bond transactions for debut or repeat corporate and sponsor-owned issuers, projects or event driven situations.

About the department:

Global Capital Markets (GCM) is INGs interface between the broader capital markets investor base and INGs Wholesale banking clients. GCM aims to credibly and effectively originate, structure and distribute all forms of credit and selected equity to the broader institutional investor base.

Responsibilities:

  • You assist on the DCM coverage across sectors and help to further build ING US debt capital markets franchise and increase revenue generation. You actively assist senior originators with business development, origination and transactional activities.
  • Your key focus will be US Investment Grade Corporates, with potential opportunities to also assist on the project and leveraged finance side.
  • Taking the lead in the preparation of pitch materials.
  • Coordinate and prepare multi-currency pricing updates with the syndicate desks.
  • You take the lead in key transaction management activities. Support deal execution by means of direct involvement in the deal team (e.g. documentation and due diligence, roadshow logistics, bookbuilding and orderbook analysis)
  • Prepare weekly digests to be distributed internally covering topics such as fixed income markets, rates and deal commentary.
  • Liaise with other key ING internal stakeholders (e.g. Client coverage teams, other DCM departments across the globe, DCM Syndicate, credit research, corporate sales) to identify opportunities, enhance internal cooperation and to maximize client cross-sell.
  • Support further product development within DCM team, i.e. liability management exercises, debt capacity and liquidity analyses, hybrid bonds, ESG labelled offerings.
  • Identify market opportunities by applying knowledge from various market sources (Bloomberg, credit research, external news providers, etc.)
  • You coordinate all aspects of a pitch or the execution of a live transaction, ensuring high quality deliverables to clients at all times. Prepare internal underwriting requests for new transactions. Lead internal syndicate discussions.
  • You oversee and review the work of more junior team members and train new joiners.
  • You keep product, (relevant) sector and market knowledge up to date.
  • Participate in pitches and conversations with clients.
  • Attain revenue targets.

Qualifications and Competencies

Qualifications / Education:

  • Minimum of BA/BS in Business or related field.
  • Series 79, 63 licenses
  • Prior exposure and track record in the US Capital Markets industry
  • Knowledge of corporate finance valuation and accounting concepts
  • Knowledge of international credit and rates markets and global economy
  • Desirable: CFA or similar qualification

Experience / Knowledge:

  • You are an experienced, fully qualified individual capable of independent activity including origination, structuring and execution of large, complex bond transactions in the Investment Grade bond market.
  • You have proven client relationship skills as well as extensive product knowledge technical expertise and strong transaction execution skills.
  • You possess superior client relationship, marketing presentation and sales skills in addition to deep understanding of products and markets.
  • You have strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and Bloomberg skills.
