Accounting and Reporting Expert Senior Accountant
Budapest, Hungary 40 hours/week (local standard full time employment)

In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Banks financials, driving critical month-end and year-end reporting, and shaping the future of accounting processes through automation and system enhancements. The team

You will join a collaborative and knowledgeable team in Accounting, closely working with Head of Accounting and Financial Administration as a key member of the team.  Accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement are highly valued. The team works closely with colleagues across Finance (Controlling and Reporting), Operations, IT, Risk, and software vendors, creating an environment that encourages cross-functional learning and professional development. Vendors will be your key partners in building local GL and Financial Statements reports and supporting evidence.

As part of the Finance & Accounting team, you will contribute to a variety of strategic and operational projects that help strengthen the Banks financial infrastructure. These may include implementing new IT applications, enhancing existing finance systems, supporting the accounting setup of new products, and driving automation initiatives that improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Prepare general ledger accounts related proofs monthly

  • Opening new general ledger accounts and ranking them to accounting reports

  • Taking part in monthly closing process and preparing monthly balance sheet report

  • Taking part in preparation of annual balance sheet reports

  • Reconciliation data from GL and various back-office system

  • Participate in projects like implementation of the new IT applications and supporting the development of the existing systems

  • Reconciles, checks and updates files and records in scope of Accounting controls, and books.

  • Participates in preparing and updating the Accounting -Finance related policies

  • Participation in the monthly and yearly closing procedures of the Branch, preparing the annual report

  • Elaboration of accounting tasks relating to development of the new products

  • Recommendations for the rationalization and automation of the processes, the installation of any missing control functions

  • Contributes to daily operational tasks of Accounting with booking, calculating and keeping records of transactions in scope.

  • Cooperation with the external and internal auditors of the Branch in (audits, KCT, CAS, tax audit, etc.)

  • Filing and archiving

  • The tasks, the back-up tasks and the related deadlines are detailed in the valid and effective Task Monitoring Tool, based on Finance Tasks Monitoring procedure

  • Any other tasks according to his/her superiors instructions, in connection with the position

  • College or University degree in accounting

  • Certified accountant qualification

  • Minimum 8-10 years of working experience in accounting/finance area at a financial institution

  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislative measures as requirements IFRS accounting (tax knowledge is an advance)

  • Computer literacy: MS Office, applications in scope of Financial Accounting, complex reporting systems and understanding their mapping is in focus in this role.

  • Fluency of written and spoken professional English; the knowledge of any other foreign language is a plus
