We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Manager, Business Compliance and Governance.

Principal responsibilities

  • Lead the business compliance function for HSIC, ensuring effective management of Financial Crime Risk (FCR), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and related compliance matters to protect the organisation, ensure regulatory compliance, and support business growth.
  • Financial Crime & AML/FCR Management – Oversee and conduct risk & control assessments (RCA), control testing, and incident management for FCR and AML matters. Implement and maintain AML/FCR policies and procedures, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
  • Fraud Risk & Investigation - Develop and execute strategies to identify, prevent, and reduce fraud. Lead investigations of reported fraud and ensure effective resolution and governance.
  • CDD/EDD Oversight - Manage complex Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews for individuals and entities. Drive improvements in CDD workflows and monitor offshore investigation quality, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Operational & Control Issue Resolution - Review and resolve complex operational or control issues, ensuring robust risk mitigation, governance, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Business Support - Advise on compliance for new business initiatives, including broker channel expansion and HNW segment targeting, ensuring regulatory obligations are met.
  • Risk Monitoring & Reporting - Track and report on key risk indicators and exposures, recommending improvements to controls and processes to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Support and, when required, act as delegate for the Chief Control Officer in regulatory compliance, timely escalation, and reporting of significant compliance matters.
  • Team Leadership - Lead and develop the Business Compliance team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and regulatory awareness.

Requirements

  • University graduate with a minimum of 10 years of insurance or banking experience, with at least 5 years in risk management with exposure to risk control and relevant qualification
  • Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, sales quality control and regulatory requirements, financial crime compliance or other related areas
  • Strong business sense, self-motivated with good communication, logical and positive thinking, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Strong business acumen with good problem solving, communication and analytical skills
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective deliverables
  • Leadership experience in managing and developing teams
  • High proficiency in English, Chinese and Putonghua
  • Professional qualifications such as Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) and/or Certified Banker (CB) under Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) would be an advantage.
