Position Overview

Details of the Division and Team:

This role acts as a deputy to the Head of PB Compliance Hong Kong within the PB Business Line Compliance (“BLC”) team and covers a wide array of Compliance responsibilities ensuring compliance with Hong Kong laws and regulations as well as the global, regional and local standards, policies and procedures of Deutsche Bank, with the ultimate aim of protecting the interests of our clients and the integrity and reputation of Deutsche Bank.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Review and assess all new and updated circulars, rules and other regulatory developments that impact PB and ensure regulatory adherence or implementation are completed;

  • Provide compliance advice with regard to applicable rules and regulations of PB business, and internal compliance policies and procedures from Hong Kong perspective, or as it impacts the Hong Kong business;

  • Ensure timely regulatory reporting, full cooperation with regulators as and when required; work with Legal and other colleagues in response to regulatory enquiries; coordinate and provide appropriate guidance for regular or ad-hoc surveys, questionnaire and information requests required for regulators relevant for the PB business; and ensure timely submission;

  • Manage regulatory inspections related to PB business;

  • Escalate timely issues and provide regular Management Information to Senior Management of PB and Compliance;

  • Investigate and resolve referrals from compliance surveillance team for PB cases;

  • Provide Compliance advice/requirements to the business for new projects/initiatives and on-going compliance topics/matters such as cross-border activities, trade approvals, conflicts of interests, consumer protections, suitability and appropriateness etc..;

  • Provide Compliance support on complaints handling;

  • Lead or assist in any Compliance projects as necessary;

  • Assess outsourcing requests that impact PB, together with central compliance team

  • Act as deputy to the Head of BLC PB HK, coach direct reports and others in the organization, as appropriate;

  • Provide training in relation to compliance matters or relevant procedures that impact PB;

  • Advise business to establish adequate level 1 controls and set up effective level 2 compliance monitoring program as required

  • Develop relationships with relevant Infrastructure functions that support the PB business and maintain the partnership between BLC and other Compliance and Anti-Financial crime functions

Your skills and experience:

  • University graduated with at least 10 years in the banking industry, and preferably with private bank exposure, work experience with regulators such as HKMA or SFC, and/or compliance testing or auditing experience within a financial institution.

  • Familiar with banking and/or securities related rules and regulations, and knowledge of the global banking practices and regulatory environment.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build good working relationships with different business and operations departments.

  • Able to demonstrate strong leadership, and at the same time, a good teamwork player.

  • A strong sense of accountability and be ready to take up challenging responsibilities.

  • Attention to detail, efficient and strong organizational skills.
