We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Data Scientist, Data Platforms.

The Financial Crime (FC) Data Platforms teams role is to manage data products, processes and applications on the Compliance/FC Data Lakes and Cloud Environments and define the strategy for their future evolution. This encompasses the end-to-end design, modelling and delivery of enhanced datasets to optimise the performance of our crime detection models and yield the greatest possible insight for all users, including FC Analyst, Investigator, Data Scientist and MI communities, many of whom we collaborate with closely. The team is also responsible for regulating the data environment, including platform architecture, management and configuration, security and data quality.

Youll sit within Financial Crime Data functions and is responsible for developing, deploying and continuously improving data-driven models and analytical solutions to support detection, prevention and investigations of financial crime. Youll combine advanced analytics, domain knowledge and engineering collaboration to deliver production grade capabilities that enhance detection effectiveness, reduce false positives and support regulatory compliance.

In this role youll:

Design and oversight of the core data assets for Compliance and Financial Crime Risk

Exploratory analytics and defining transformations for data from across the bank to optimise the data for Compliance and Financial Crime Risk

Contribute to prioritisation of use cases based on risk, value and feasibility.

Manage the inventory, capacity, development and security of the Compliance data lake

Support Product Owners to ensure effective stakeholder engagement and user interaction at all levels leading to informed and well-judged trade-offs and priority decisions to maximise business benefit.

Ensuring requirements are communicated clearly, consistently and in context to IT colleagues at all levels

Optimise systems usage. Identify and eradicate duplication or underutilisation across Compliance.

Manage a team of data analysts, nurturing talent and encouraging innovation.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

Knowledge and experience analysing large and complex datasets to yield actionable technical and business insight

Strong experience with Hadoop and/or Cloud Technologies (ideally GCP) and a willingness to build knowledge in these areas quickly

Proficient understanding of data types and fluency in SQL and complex (50 lines+) queries is essential

Expertise in python or other scripting languages. Learning and using python (or alternative languages in future) for data analysis/analytics purposes is a requirement of the role

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical matters effectively with senior leaders in Compliance, the business, and the public sector.

Comprehensive knowledge of technology issues relevant to Data Platforms and the financial sector in general

Proven expertise across end-to-end data engineering and analyticsincluding transformation, modelling, architecture, and database performance tuning/optimisationdelivering robust solutions to complex problems in a global environment.

Experience / knowledge of financial crime and reputational risk
