Full Job Description

Some careers shine brighter than others.

If youre looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specialist

In this role, you will:

  • Own service reliability outcomes for one or more critical digital services (availability, latency, error rates), not just ticket handling.
  • Lead major incident (P1/P2) management end-to-end: triage, stakeholder comms, coordination across teams, and post-incident actions.
  • Drive problem management with strong root-cause analysis (RCA) and ensure permanent fixes are prioritized and delivered.
  • Define and improve runbooks, SOPs, on-call readiness, and shift-left activities to reduce operational load.
  • Establish/track SLOs/SLIs and error budgets; use them to influence engineering priorities.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements

  • Advanced Python for automation (packaging, testing, logging, API integrations), not just scripts.
  • Strong hands-on with CI/CD engineering (Jenkins or equivalent), including pipeline-as-code and quality/security gates.
  • Solid experience with observability engineering (Splunk/AppDynamics plus metrics/tracing concepts; alert design and tuning).
  • Practical experience with cloud operations (AWS preferred): IAM basics, networking concepts, compute/container services, monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of containers and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes) if relevant to your platform.
  • Strong Git workflows and code review practices; ability to deliver safe production fixes.
  • UI/web skills remain a bonus, but at 5.2 emphasize building operational tools with good UX and secure access.
  • Hands-on experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS and GCP Cloud Services, Observability Tools, Jenkins, Groovy, Shell-scripting, GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, etc

Youll achieve more when you join HSBC.
