Role Purpose:

As an ICG Credit Risk Manager within HSBCs WCRM team, youll support sound, balanced credit risk decision-making and effective portfolio stewardship across the Financial Institutions (FI) portfolio, including Banks, Non-Banking Financial Institutions, and Investment Companies. Youll provide timely, well-structured analysis and recommendations to help maintain a stable, high-quality portfolio, aligned with risk appetite, policy requirements, and robust control standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the credit approval process by providing timely, balanced risk recommendations in line with agreed service standards.
  • Prepare credit appraisal papers and escalate cases outside delegated authority to the relevant approving level, with a clear, well-supported recommendation.
  • Deliver financial and credit analysis to inform risk assessments (including internal rating considerations where relevant) and to support credit limit setting and periodic reviews for FI counterparties, at both parent and subsidiary level as applicable.
  • Track portfolio trends, thresholds, and limit utilization; investigate and escalate excess/over-limit positions in line with local governance and procedures.
  • Work closely with relationship teams and Risk colleagues to provide clear credit guidance, maintaining independent judgement while considering client needs and market conditions.
  • Adhere to internal credit policies and uphold a strong control environment, escalating control gaps, compliance breaches, and operational risk concerns through established channels.
  • Right to work in Dubai, UAE is required; local employment regulations and restrictions apply.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • A graduation degree is essential for obtaining work permits. If your university certificate is from outside the UAE, up-to-date attestations and equivalency are also mandatory (Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications Issued Outside The UAE)
  • 1- 3 years experience in a comparable credit/risk role within a recognized bank, financial institution, insurer, or broader financial services organization.
  • Bachelors degree in finance, Economics, or a related discipline (a postgraduate qualification and/or CA/CFA/FRM would be an advantage).
  • Strong analytical capability with close attention to detail, particularly in credit documentation and consistent application of policy.
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills; able to perform well under tight deadlines and pressure.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to use approved AI tools to enhance productivity (e.g., drafting credit papers, summarizing financial disclosures, creating presentation content) while exercising sound judgement and applying confidentiality and validation controls.
