Finance teams provide the bank with internal and external financial reporting, forecasting, controls oversight, and stress testing expertise. Specialist areas also manage HSBCs worldwide tax affairs, group treasury needs, and events for investors and analysts.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Asset, Liability and Capital Management and Financial Planning & Analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead HSBC Sri Lankas balance sheet management strategy, focusing on optimising liquidity, funding and capital resources within the risk appetite.
  • Own the entitys Asset, Liability and Capital Management (ALCM) policies including the Funds Transfer Pricing Framework, Risk Appetite Setting, Internal Liquidity Adequacy Assessment Process (ILAAP), Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment (ICAAP) and Recovery Planning, ensuring alignment to regulatory requirements and Group Treasury guidance.
  • Steer Asset and Liability Management Committee (ALCO) discussions and support decision-making, providing actionable analysis, insights and advice on key risks and opportunities as the Secretary / alternate Chair of ALCO.
  • Lead the entitys Economic Profit (EP) optimisation through active management of key drivers including risk-weighted assets, pricing and cost.
  • Define and own the Management Information (MI) strategy and deliver high-quality ALCO / Operations Committee (OpCo) papers, translating performance into clear actions to improve returns and optimise the cost structure.
  • Lead the entitys annual planning and forecasting exercise, ensuring robust review and challenge, clear assumptions and strong stakeholder alignment.
  • Work closely with the business and functions as a finance business partner providing analytical / forecasting support, client profitability insights and performance monitoring.
  • Oversee a team of six onshore and four offshore colleagues covering asset and liability management, financial planning / business finance and product control.
  • Act as a delegate for the Chief Financial Officer as required, engaging senior stakeholders across businesses, regional / global teams and regulators.
  • Accelerate digital adoption and process improvement across finance, identifying automation opportunities and improving speed, quality and control through tooling, standardisation and simplification.

Requirements

  • Sound experience in finance, preferably within banking/treasury, with a degree and/or professional qualification ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CIMA (Charted Institute of Management Accountants), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or equivalent).
  • Hands-on experience and expertise in Liquidity, Funding, Capital, Interest Rate Risk Management, Pricing and Returns of Banking Products, and Financial Planning.
  • Proven track record in decision making, executive influencing, and regulatory engagement.
  • Advanced analytical and modelling capability, with strong forecasting discipline and the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated people leadership, including leading and developing onshore/offshore teams and managing delivery through others.
  • Digital and automation mindset, with experience improving MI, streamlining processes and strengthening controls through tools/technology.
  • Strong understanding of Sri Lankan tax laws, with the ability to provide practical guidance and oversight.
