We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join the Markets Treasury team.

Principal Responsibilities

Markets Treasury sits at the heart of HSBC and acts as the Street-facing arm of the Treasury function (which responsible for setting the risk limits and strategy in respect of HSBCs balance sheet). Markets Treasurys priorities are:

  • Manage HSBCs cash, liquidity and funding for 45+ sites globally
  • Manage HSBCs overall High-Quality Liquid Assets (HQLA)
  • Manage HSBCs short-term funding requirements
  • Manage HSBCs interest rate positions of the banking book
  • Generate stable (and significant) revenues by optimizing return on interest rates and HQLA

Role requirements / Educational Qualifications / Certification / Experience:

  • < Education: Degree holder; professional qualifications preferred. 35 years relevant experience (management graduates are welcome to apply).
  • Analytical capability: Strong analytical background with a proven track record of high-quality analysis, excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Digital and automation mindset: Demonstrated interest in AI, digital tools and new ways of working; strong programming/modelling skills (e.g., VBA, Python) with the ability to build and maintain robust models.
  • Communication and stakeholder management: Strong interpersonal skills, including experience preparing materials for senior audiences.
  • Collaboration and mindset: Effective team player with strategic thinking, a proactive can-do approach and confidence to challenge the status quo constructively.
  • Markets awareness: Broad knowledge of, and genuine interest in, financial markets and economics.
  • Product knowledge: Familiarity with Fixed Income, interest rate derivatives, cross-currency swaps, and FX swaps.
  • Treasury fundamentals: Understanding of capital, liquidity, funding, and structural interest rate risk.

Pro Tip: Familiarity with AI-enabled tools is an advantage.
