Overview of Role

This is a Junior Operations role to support the continued growth of the APAC Gas & Power business, including the Australia build-out and increasing day-to-day scheduling, operational coordination, data and control requirements.

The role will provide practical operational support across APAC Gas & Power activity, working with Commercial Operations, Trading, Risk, Middle Office, Trade Support, Settlements, Finance, Contracts, Legal, Compliance and relevant market / system operators.

Key responsibilities will include maintaining scheduling and operational records, supporting nominations and confirmations, helping manage handovers and coverage, assisting with ETRM / data quality, preparing operational reporting and supporting issue resolution.

The role is designed to add capacity, reduce key-person dependency and provide a development path for junior APAC Operations capability. It will work under the guidance of APAC Operations management and the senior Commercial Operator role, with mentoring support but no formal people-management structure.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain and validate trade data in the ETRM system, managing trade lifecycle activities including trade capture, confirmations, amendments, allocations, scheduling, and settlements.
  • Execute daily scheduling and nomination activities for gas, power, and environmental certificate transactions, ensuring timely and accurate fulfilment of delivery obligations.
  • Support real-time and day-ahead scheduling activities, coordinating with traders, counterparties, market operators, and service providers to manage schedule changes and delivery issues.
  • Monitor physical positions and support balancing activities to meet delivery obligations and minimise operational risk.
  • Validate and reconcile settlement statements and invoices.
  • Maintain accurate records across ETRM, scheduling, and settlement systems, while supporting operational reporting, compliance requirements, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with traders, counterparties, market operators, and internal stakeholders to resolve operational issues and support efficient transaction processing.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned by manager

Profile

The individual should have the following experience:

  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn, power and gas market operations, including scheduling, balancing, and transmission processes.
  • Familiarity with operational systems; exposure to ETRM platforms is advantageous but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Basic Japanese language skills are advantageous but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
