Risk, Credit Risk-  Global Banking & Markets Private Equity Funds, Associate

Divisional Overview:

The Risk Division is a team of specialists charged with managing the firms credit, market, liquidity, operational and insurance risk. Whether assessing the creditworthiness of the firms counterparties, monitoring market risks associated with trading activities, or offering analytical and regulatory compliance support, our work contributes directly to the firms success. The division is ideal for collaborative individuals who have strong ethics and attention to detail.

Department Overview:

Credit Risk (CR) is a central part of Goldman Sachs' risk management framework, with primary responsibility for assessing, monitoring and managing credit risk at the Firm. CR is staffed globally with offices including New York, London, Salt Lake City, Dallas, Warsaw, Bengaluru, Hong Kong and Tokyo. CR professionals with expertise in financial, credit and risk analysis work closely with many areas of the Firm as well as clients, offering a unique opportunity to gain a broad perspective on the activities of the Firm. CR partners with other divisions in the firm and externally with clients to support the Firms wide array of banking and trading businesses. CR professionals are part of the value proposition of the Firm and balance our key functional responsibility of control with that of being commercial. CR has strong traditions of risk management, client service excellence, and career development opportunities for our people.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating credit risk aspects of fund financial performance and ratings profile, focusing on the credit and financial strength of the firm's Private Equity fund counterparts performing fundamental credit analysis of counterparties using both quantitative and qualitative factors.
  • Providing insights and analysis to senior credit risk management on specific loans, broader portfolio information and product risk assessment. 
  • Assess transactions across Derivatives & Funding businesses.  Leverage quantitative models and stress tests to opine on initial margin.
  • Reviewing and approving risk taking in the various lending products both at initial underwriting and management of risk through the life of the loan.
  • Drive risk conversations with respective trading and sales teams (OTC derivatives, repo, etc).  

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a finance, markets, or risk role.
  • Significant knowledge of capital markets, including secured loan products, with experience of fund lending preferred.
  • Demonstrable track record of independent decision making.
  • Strong attention to detail.  Excellent analytical and communication skills.
