Capital Solutions Group

Goldman Sachs operates at the fulcrum of one of the most important structural trends in finance: the convergence of public and private markets. We combine the #1 global advisory franchise, a leading origination business, and an investing platform that deploys capital across liquid and alternative asset classes.

Our Capital Solutions Group is a comprehensive suite of our financing, origination, structuring, and risk management solutions. The depth and breadth of our relationships, enriched by the velocity of our deal flow, provide clients unique insights to maximize value and unlock opportunity.

Our integrated structure is built to provide comprehensive, tailored solutions that propel both our issuing and investing clients forward

Investment Banking

Our division works on some of the most complex financial challenges and transactions in the market today. Whether advising on a merger, providing financial solutions for an acquisition, or structuring an initial public offering, we handle projects that help clients at major milestones. We work with corporations, pension funds, financial sponsors, and governments and are team of strong analytical thinkers, who have a passion for producing out-of-the-box ideas.

Our Impact

Our Leveraged Finance group originates structures, advises and executes bank loan and high yield bond financings for corporate clients and financial sponsors, including LBOs, refinancing, M&A transactions and restructurings. Leverage Finance teams serve as intermediaries between the debt capital markets (including sales, trading, research, and buy side investors) and our issuing clients. Given underwriting requirements for many of the transactions, the group works closely with multiple areas of the firm including Classic Investment Banking, Credit, Capital Markets and Research.

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate with internal product groups (M&A, Sponsors, ECM, Risk, Legal, and Goldman's Credit Partners) and external counterparties to facilitate smooth transaction progress from origination to closing.
  • Financial Modeling & Analysis: Build, maintain, and own complex financial models, and perform fundamental credit analysis, valuation, and due diligence for leveraged financings and recapitalizations.
  • Materials Preparation: Draft and prepare high-quality internal underwriting memos, credit committee presentations, and syndication materials (such as lender presentations and information memoranda).

Client & Sponsor Interaction

  • Day-to-Day Point of Contact: Serve as a reliable point of contact for private equity sponsors, private credit funds, and corporate management teams regarding data requests, modeling, and process updates.
  • Origination & Pitch Support: Assist senior bankers in originating new private debt and leveraged finance opportunities by developing pitch books, conducting industry research, and preparing relationship management materials.
  • Solution Evaluation: Assist in evaluating and structuring tailored financing solutions that align with client objectives and current market conditions.

Team Collaboration & Analyst Mentorship

  • Analyst Guidance: Supervise, mentor, and review the work of Analysts, ensuring high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with Goldman's quality benchmarks.
  • Technical Coaching: Provide guidance and constructive feedback to Analysts on financial modeling, presentation formatting, and professional development.
  • Team Culture: Actively contribute to a collaborative, high-performance, and inclusive team environment.

Market & Product Knowledge

  • Market Tracking: Maintain a strong working knowledge of private credit markets, investor appetite, documentation trends, leverage metrics, and regulatory developments.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Monitor and analyze competitive dynamics across private debt providers, Business Development Companies (BDCs), Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs), and alternative asset managers.
  • Franchise Contribution: Support the growth of Goldmans Leveraged Finance franchise by compiling market insights, tracking industry trends, and contributing to internal knowledge sharing.
