Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted division that partners with all areas of the firm to deliver banking, sales and trading and asset management capabilities to clients around the world. Alongside this vital service delivery role, Operations provides essential risk management and control, preserving and enhancing the firms assets and its reputation.

Operations spans all product lines and markets, serving as internal business partners who develop processes and controls, and help to specify systems those deliver accuracy, timeliness and integrity to our business.  

 

We provide operational support throughout the lifecycle of a Corporate Advisory or Financing Deal. The department is structured as five functional teams within Asia, Europe and the US. The teams are set up to manage each deal through client onboarding, logistics of marketing, deal execution, settlement and invoicing of fees and expenses.

  • Principal responsibilities of the Japan Syndicate Operations team are:
  • Coordinating operational processes of financing deals for the Japan Capital Solutions Group business 
  • Providing control frameworks to manage operational risks of the business
  • Orchestrating security and/or cash movements associated with financing deal activities
  • Providing support and advice to bankers with regards to operational processes for financial deal activities


 Role Description

  • How you will fulfil your potential:
  • Providing operational advisory to bankers for new business pitching and/or deal execution
  • Preparing for financing deal executions from an operational perspective, including deal structuring and coordination with multiple stakeholders
  • Announcing financial deals internally/externally and managing a timeline towards deal closure
  • Reviewing deal documents and/or prospectuses from an operational perspective
  • Ensuring necessary bookings are made and transactions are ready for settlements before deal closure
  • Preparing and submitting deal related reports to counterparties and regulatory bodies
  • Handholding deal closing operational processes with multiple internal/external stakeholders
  • Monitoring and managing post deal closure balances including fees
  • Managing life cycle events and post deal closure services for clients/counterparties
  • Communicating with external stakeholders to enable better client experience and seamless operational supports


Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills both in written and oral, ability to clearly articulate complex matters
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, ability to think logically and strategically
  • Effective team player, highly collaborative and team-oriented, ability to build consensuses and networks
  • Self-starter, ability to work towards targets with minimal supervision
  • Solid understanding of basic capital markets functions
  • Ability to drive deals, initiatives and projects across multiple teams
  • [Mandatory] Professional Japanese language skills
  • [Preferred] Prior experience in banking/syndicate operations or similar (Equity/FICC middle/back office) environment
  • [Preferred] Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, skills in Business Intelligence tools (Alteryx, Tableau, RPA, AI)
