Murrin Murrin Operations has an opportunity for a Senior Specialist - Logistics to join our established and dedicated team.

Murrin Murrin Operations is Australias largest cobalt producer and a major world producer of nickel. Our Murrin Murrin site in WAs northern Goldfields is an integrated nickel and cobalt mining and processing operation employing over 1,000 people. We are a diverse, dedicated and driven workforce, building a sustainable business today with a focus on tomorrow.

Murrin Murrin Operations is wholly owned by Glencore, one of the worlds largest globally diversified natural resources companies and a major producer and marketer of more than 60 commodities. Glencore employs over 145,000 people operates around 150 operating mining and processing sites, oil production assets and agricultural facilities in over 35 countries.

The Role

The successful candidate will become a member of a hardworking and committed team who can lead and coordinate logistics activities supporting Murrin Murrin Operations.
You will be responsible for:
  • Coordinate logistics activities across road, rail, port and marine transport interfaces. 
  • Monitor logistics service provider performance and escalate issues requiring corrective actions. 
  • Optimise logistics operations to support production, inventory and shipping requirements. 
  • Coordinate rail scheduling, vessel planning, stevedoring activities and road transport movements. 
  • Monitor logistics costs and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain logistics procedures, work instructions and business processes. 
  • Act as a senior logistics resource for the team, providing guidance on operational logistics matters and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with logistics providers, port authorities, rail operators, shipping agents and internal stakeholders.

About You

Reporting directly to the Manager Supply and Superintendent Logistics, you will have significant experiences managing complex logistics operations across road, rail, port and shipping environments, within mining and resources. 

You will also have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce or Supply & Logistics (preferred).
  • 2 years experience in a similar role that encompasses the operation of domestic and international road, rail and shipping freight Agreements.
  • Experience in the administration of bulk chemicals Agreements (preferred).
  • Experience in managing costs and budgeting. 
  • Contract documentation preparation and ongoing management. 
  • Experience administering logistics service agreements and managing service provider performance.
