Murrin Murrin Operations has an opportunity for a Safety Advisor - Mining to join our established and dedicated team.

Murrin Murrin Operation is Australias largest cobalt producer and a major world producer of nickel. Our Murrin Murrin site in WAs northern Goldfields is an integrated nickel and cobalt mining and processing operation employing over 1,000 people. We are a diverse, dedicated and driven workforce, building a sustainable business today with a focus on tomorrow.

Minara Resources is wholly owned by Glencore, one of the worlds largest globally diversified natural resources companies and a major producer and marketer of more than 60 commodities. Glencore employs over 145,000 people operates around 150 operating mining and processing sites, oil production assets and agricultural facilities in over 35 countries.

The Role

The successful candidate will become a member of a hardworking and committed Mining team who can assist line management to provide and maintain a healthy, safe and compliant working environment for all employees.

You will be responsible for:
  • Develop, implement and maintain procedures and safe systems of work to ensure compliance and continuous improvements;
  • Provide advice and assistance to all personnel in relation to relevant legislative requirements;
  • Undertake inspections and audits of the workplace to monitor level of compliance with standards, procedure and legislation;
  • Participate in investigations of incidents and provide assistance in preparing reports to ensure root causes and appropriate corrective actions are identified.
  • Assess incident and injury information to determine trends and recommend corrective actions to improve safety performances.

About You

Reporting directly to the Superintendent ERM, Safety and Assurance this role would suit a detailed and process oriented person. 

You will also have:
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Occupational Safety.
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (preferred).
  • WA C Drivers Licence.
  • Internal Audit qualification and ICAM Lead Investigator.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in the mining & mineral processing industries.
  • A good working knowledge of the Work, Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels and with regulatory authorities.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal presentation and communication skills to both groups and individuals.
