Reporting to the Director, Maintenance, the Principal Engineer, Electrical will be central authority responsible for electrical governance, standards and compliance across all EVR assets. They will act as the main oversight for the implementation and standardization of all electrical standards and permits to ensure compliance to EVR Electrical Engineering Control Plan (ECPP) and associated Electrical Standards and Permits (FHP06).

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Be accountable for enterprise-wide electrical safety risk management under FHP06, including defining controls, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement to ensure effective mitigation of electrical hazards
  • Own and maintain the Electrical Engineering Control Plan (EECP) and associated standards, ensuring regulatory alignment, controlled document lifecycle management, and consistent interpretation and application across all assets
  • Lead the development and implementation of governance frameworks that align with electrical compliance with corporate systems and standards
  • Serve as the primary liason with Glencore on all electrical related matters, ensuring EVR compliance with corporate expectations, global standards, and influencing strategic direction
  • Provide strategic guidance, technical oversight and support to all assets to drive consistent site-level compliance
  • Lead secondparty audits across assets, assess compliance with FHP06 and EECP, and identify systemic risks and gaps in implementation
  • Drive enterpriselevel corrective and preventative actions, and support complex electrical issue resolution and non-compliance
  • Participate in major project stage-gate reviews as electrical SME and ensure electrical design compliance, integration of risk controls, and robust technical assurance from concept to execution
  • Responsible for oversight and support of Electrical Superintendents and Electrical Support Engineers key accountabilities and deliverables across EVR assets

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Trade Certification with extensive experience
  • Extensive experience (12+ years) in mining, resource sector or related industry
  • Registered, or immediately eligible to register as a Professional Engineer with Engineer and Geoscientist of British Columbia (EGBC)
  • Experience leading or supporting the implementation and monitoring of large-scale programs, compliance and governance related initiatives is an asset
  • Demonstrated leadership and influence in cross-functional environments, ability to engage and align diverse stakeholder groups
  • Proven ability to develop and implement processes, manage change, and drive adoption across a broad organization
  • Strong understanding of professional governance, regulatory compliance and risk management principles
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CSA C22.1) and CSA standards
  • Familiarity with BC mining regulations
  • Experience with maintenance and reliability systems and tools
  • Understanding of Electrical Engineering Control Plans and safety management systems
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidates relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
