Laboratory Coordinator

Salary Range: $113,000 - $135,000

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Metallurgical Lab Coordinator to support Group Project Managers and a team of Technicians and Technologists who process metallurgical samples and report results for clients across the global mining industry. The successful candidate will coordinate laboratory operations, support safety,  continuous improvement initiatives, equipment maintenance, manage laboratory inventory and supply chain activities, and perform administrative duties as required.

What Youll Do

  • Maintain a safe work environment and zero harm workplace for yourself and your team
  • Establish, review and evaluate all current SOPs and protocols in the lab
  • Provide leadership in a QA/QC environment
  • Contribute to the planning, design and assessment of project requirements in collaboration with Engineering groups.
  • Manage the receiving, storage and tracking of samples
  • Coordinate daily, weekly and long-term work schedules for laboratory Technicians to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Collaborate effectively with Project Leaders, Maintenance personnel and other stakeholders to achieve laboratory objectives.
  • Be responsible for ordering, follow-up and maintenance of general lab supply inventories and equipment
  • Develop, improve and recommend new procedures, including sampling, measuring, monitoring and maintenance
  • Ensure Technicians are trained and fit for delegated tasks
  • Mentor technicians and play a key role in their career development and progression

What You Bring

  • Degree Chemistry, Mineral Processing, Extractive Metallurgy, or related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience in mining or industrial setting
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems
  • Safety mindset
  • Strong commercial and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Experience scheduling resources for high volume, fast passed environment
