The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Environmental Coordinator to join our Glencore Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations in Greater Sudbury, Ontario.

The position will be based in Onaping, Greater Sudbury, Ontario. 

This is a full-time, permanent staff position.

Range of Pay: $125,800 to $140,000 plus annual variable compensation bonus

This position is being posted to fill an existing vacancy.

Work location is not accessible by public transportation.

Duties and Accountabilities: 

Reporting to the Occupational Hygiene & Environment Specialist, the Environment Coordinator is accountable for providing advice relating to specific projects, regulations and coordination of activities in keeping with the overall objectives of the company to protect the environment and worker health and safety while maintaining profitability of the asset.  The Environmental Coordinator is accountable participation in the design, planning and implementation of effective management systems and control programs, manuals, procedures, forms to ensure that operations are conducted in compliance with prescribed environmental legislation, corporate practices, policies and procedures. This position is also responsible for liaising with government regulators and stakeholders to identify potential risks and opportunities in regulatory changes and/or developments.

The Environmental Coordinator is responsible for the direct daily supervision of the Occupational Hygiene / Environmental Technician(s) and/or Technologist(s) and summer students as well as collaborating with the Site Rehabilitation Lead and Occupational Hygiene Lead to achieve Environmental objectives.

This position provides expertise in developing and ensuring effective implementation of innovative and cost-effective improvements to the Environment programs and initiatives

Education and Skills

This position requires an individual with a strong technical knowledge of internal and external environmental obligations and management systems, as well as a strong leadership, communication, analytical and planning skills to manage the scope and distributed obligations and roles.  The individual possesses a minimum of a university undergraduate degree in environment or a related science, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience in the environment discipline.
