The role in a nutshell:

In this role, you will provide support across three functional areas within Legacy Asset: Geotechnical, Geology, and Tailings Management. This position assists senior professionals through data management, fieldwork support, instrumentation tasks, basic modelling, and administrative coordination.

The role supports compliance with Glencores internal technical standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and governance processes related to geotechnical risk, geological data systems, and legacy tailings storage facilities (TSFs).

 

More specifically, you will be expected to:

  • Participate in annual geotechnical inspections under the supervision of the Geotechnical Engineer.
  • Document observations and assist in reporting.
  • Support basic hazard identification and documentation.
  • Review trends with senior staff for datasets (visual inspections, Multi-Point Borehole eXtensometers (MPBXs), InSAR).
  • Update the geotechnical risk assessments, GCMPs and registers based on observations from annual geotechnical inspections.
  • Maintain organized geotechnical data archives.
  • Help coordinate logistics for geotechnical programs (mapping and drilling investigations and instrumentation installations).
  • Track progress of activities assigned by the Senior Geotechnical Engineer.
  • Provide junior-level support during field campaigns, including; Sample handling and chain?of?custody tasks, basic outcrop or site mapping assistance under supervision, field logistics coordination, GPS data collection and basic measurements.
  • Assist with administrative processes related to mineral/land claims management (renewal tracking, file management, document preparation).
  • Maintain organized records and reminders for submission timelines or compliance requirements.
  • Participate in routine field inspections and records filing in a support role.
  • Assist with photo documentation, checklist completion, and uploading files to platforms.
  • Prepare charts, tables, and summaries for monthly TSF reports.
  • Enter validated monitoring data into internal repositories (SharePoint, spreadsheets).
  • Compile supporting documents for reviews, audits, or EoR submissions.
  • Help maintain instrumentation registers and document control for OMS?related materials.
  • Assist in gathering evidence for audits and governance reviews.
  • Provide administrative support for updates to surveillance procedures.

 

Do you have what it takes?

  •  Bachelors degree in Geological Engineering, Geology, Mining Engineering, Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
  • P.Eng or P.Geo or working towards eligibility within the next 2 years.
  • 13 years industry experience, including any of; Geotechnical or geology internships, Field experience from student positions, Exposure to instrumentation or data logging, Experience with geological or geotechnical datasets
  • Good organizational and data management skills
  • Willingness to learn field techniques (geotechnical, geological, and tailings)
  • Proficiency with Excel; exposure to GIS or geological modelling is an asset
  • Good communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work safely and professionally in field environments
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, and focused on taking initiative

 

Travel: You will be required to travel to the different sites approximately 30% of the time.

 

Language: Advanced proficiency in English (verbal and written) is mandatory.  The knowledge of French is beneficial.

 

Location: Corporate office in Toronto

 

Only candidates with full working rights in Canada will be considered.

 

The expected base salary for this position is 76 000$ to 105 000$, based on competencies, skills, and qualifications and aligned with internal equity. The incumbent will also be eligible to participate in a variable compensation plan (bonus) (note: payment of variable compensation is subject to the terms and conditions of the variable compensation plan and is not guaranteed).
