In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Ensure legal compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act 85 of 1993) for all security?related activities.
  • Maintain alignment with mandatory Glencore policies, standards and requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with POPIA (handling CCTV and personal information).
  • Verify that in?house and contracted security service providers are duly registered, trained, vetted, deployed per scope, support Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) inspections and remedial actions.
  • Keep registers, duty rosters, occurrence books, equipment registers, access permissions, key control and visitor logs and ensure data retention meets legal and audit standards.
  • Lead and update Security Threat Risk Assessment (TRA) for the site.
  • Drive a layered, security risk?based control plan.
  • Integrate security risks into the site Security Management Plan, Trigger Action Response Plans, Business continuity plan, Emergency Response & Preparedness arrangements.
  • Oversee perimeter and buffer?zone security.
  • Coordinate daily security activities including guarding, access control, visitor management, and patrols.
  • Monitor security operations on-site and escalate irregularities.
  • Material & product security: weighbridge integrity checks, seal management, sample room controls, final product/ore custody and reconciliation procedures; escort high?value consignments per PSIRA and company standards.
  • Coordinate incident response, scene preservation and handover protocols to SAPS.
  • Enforce discipline and maintain high standards of housekeeping across all security posts.
  • Promote positive employee relations by fostering a culture of dignity, respect, teamwork and motivation.
  • Monitor budget and control security-related expenditure within approved limits.
  • Perform standby duties and work overtime as operationally required.
  • Develop clear measurable objectives for subordinates in line with roles and responsibilities.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate preliminary investigations for security incidents.
  • Run proactive analysis and brief management weekly/monthly.
  • Administer and oversee all electronic security systems.
  • Lead and supervise shift leaders and security personnel (in-house and/or contracted).
  • Deliver site-wide security awareness initiatives.
  • Manage the security services contract through regular SLA and KPI reviews, contractor compliance audits, and implementation of corrective action plans.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with SAPS, CPF structures, local municipalities, public and private intelligence networks, and neighbouring operations.
  • Uphold and support the companys human rights commitments, ensuring security operations align with VPSHR principles.

 

About you:

  • Grade 12 or related NQF level 4 qualification.
  • Minimum of 10 Years Security related experience of which at least 3 years must be in a supervisory related or similar role.
  • PSIRA Registration Grade B (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority, South Africa).
  • Firearm Competency Certification will be an advantage.
  • Advance knowledge of security systems (CCTV, Access control, Alarms, Biometric systems etc.).
  • Valid Code B or Code 10 Drivers License.
  • Clear criminal record and background verification.
