Mount Isa Mines are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Environmental Advisor. This role will see you become an integral part of team, living and working residentially with a working roster of 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off - 9 hour shifts

The Role

Join our Mount Isa Mines HSEC team as an Environmental Advisor, where you will play a critical role in supporting environmental compliance, driving positive environmental outcomes, and maintaining our licence to operate. This residential position offers the opportunity to work closely with operational teams, implement environmental systems, and influence environmental performance across TSF, Surface Operations, Demolition/Rehabilitation, Land Disturbance Permits, and Cultural Heritage management.


The successful candidate will be responsible to:

  • Demonstrate strong safety behaviours, aligning with all HSEC policies and procedures
  • Build and manage effective relationships with internal teams, consultants, and contractors
  • Provide clear, accurate environmental advice on compliance, risk, and improvement opportunities
  • Assist in EA amendment applications and regulatory communications to support operational needs
  • Implement and maintain environmental programs covering air quality, groundwater, surface water, biodiversity, and waste
  • Conduct monitoring activities, analyse data, and report on environmental performance
  • Engage operational areas to identify environmental risks and improvement opportunities
  • Support cultural heritage approvals, notifications, and procedural reviews

 

You will have the following skillset and attributes:

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, or related discipline
  • Manual Drivers Licence
  • 2 years experience within the environmental field
  • Heavy industry or mining experience (desired)
  • Strong communication and relationship-building capabilities
  • Experience with environmental management systems, compliance, and legislation
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while delivering consistent results
  • Solid project management and contractor management skills
  • High safety focus and demonstrated hazard identification/reporting
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
