The Role

The Common Data Platform team within Institutional Brokerage Database Service organization needs a highly competent and motivated Senior Dat Engineer - Oracle RAC Database Administrator with deep technical skills to manage multiple highly complex and critically important database platforms. This position would provide an excellent opportunity to work on leading database technologies like Oracle RAC, Oracle Exadata, Oracle GoldenGate, AWS EC2/RDS, Snowflake, etc. It is a great place to experience and learn end to end enterprise database service capabilities! This role requires a service-oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the projects, problems, and requests assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform applications database administration (Oracle and Snowflake) services including SQL code review, performance analysis, query tuning, database application design, physical data modeling, development support and Engineering.
  • Proactively monitor databases servers and respond to any alerts
  • Provide database support in all phases of SDLC and agile experience is preferred
  • Participate in 24X7 on call rotation schedule for various production support, database maintenance, housekeeping and installs
  • Work with enterprise teams for Systems Administrators, Cyber Security and Capacity Planning groups as and when situation demands
  • Ability to quickly diagnose the problem areas and come up with solutions and/or workarounds
  • Should have strong time management skills with willingness and ability to prioritize multiple projects/initiatives at the same time
  • Establish database standards for operations, upgrades, migrations and onboarding new applications and/or clients
  • Write clear, concise, well organized user documentation to maintain standards and procedures

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent
  • 6 plus years of experience in Oracle DBA with Exadata and RAC expertise
  • Expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and assist application teams in troubleshooting and resolving performance related issues
  • 2 plus years of experience in Cloud (AWS/OCI/Azure) highly desired.
  • 2 plus years of experience in Snowflake database administration highly desired.
  • Experience with Linux shell scripting and development experience with PL/SQL. is a bonus
  • Experience with cloud databases platforms (AWS/Azure certification is preferred), on both Linux and Windows environments is a plus.
  • 2 plus years of experience in distributed replication technologies (Oracle Goldengate), preferred but not mandatory.
  • 2 plus years of experience in the Mutual Fund /Financial Services industry is highly desired.

The Team

The Common Data Platform team within Institutional Brokerage Database Service organization provides business facing database solutions, encompassing the application/business aspects of databases, including database design, solution design, database engineering, application-data-database integration, data replication, performance consulting, deployment, and support, using world-class methodologies and technologies. This team provides end to end DBA services for distributed database technologies like Oracle, Snowflake, Exadata, GoldenGate, HVR, etc.

Fidelitys Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
