Strategic Advisers is looking for a Quantitative Portfolio Analyst to join the Quantitative Model Management (QMM) group within our Portfolio Engineering organization. The QMM group is responsible for customized model portfolio construction and management for Fidelitys managed accounts and institutional intermediary clients. We employ investment expertise, quantitative techniques, and technology to scale our investment process across a variety of multi-asset-class strategies, investing in mutual funds, commingled pools, ETFs, and separately managed accounts.

The Role

The Quantitative Portfolio Analyst will be responsible for the implementation and evolution of quantitative portfolio management for Fidelitys managed account and non-discretionary model portfolios.

In this role, you will actively contribute to all aspects of the investment process which utilizes a quantitative investment methodology. This will entail working closely with our portfolio managers, quantitative research, investment management, and technology teams.

The Value You Deliver

  • Portfolio Reallocations: Own the day-to-day portfolio management process, which includes collaborating with the Portfolio Managers, formulating investment strategies, making trading recommendations, configuring our optimization platform inputs for desired trades, constructing model portfolios, evaluating portfolio characteristics, and supervising trading processes.

  • Quantitative Analysis: Conduct complex quantitative research projects in conjunction with the broader investment team aimed at improving the investment methodology and client outcomes.

  • Portfolio Oversight: Lead the development of portfolio oversight processes across millions of portfolios. Communicate performance, risk, positioning, and rebalance metrics to ensure alignment with our investment thesis and client portfolio outcomes.

  • Investment Architecture: Guide the investment architecture and design of scalable enhancements to our model management platform and systematic processes. Provide business context, prototypes, requirements and roadmap prioritization. Perform end-user acceptance testing.

  • Client Relations: Develop hypothetical portfolios and ad-hoc analysis for prospective plan sponsors and financial advisors. Perform white-glove transition management to seamlessly onboard clients.

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of work experience in the investment management industry in a role where applied quantitative finance and technical skills were required.

  • Graduate degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Quantitative Finance.

  • CFA or related investment certifications are preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Quantitative Investing - Experience of quantitative portfolio construction methods, investment management and portfolio analysis.

  • Portfolio Construction: Experience working with optimization software, tools and techniques.

  • Technical skills: Advanced proficiency in programming (Python, R), data access (SQL), and version control (Git).

  • Agentic AI: Proficiency in leveraging modern AI-assisted development and research tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, agentic workflows) to drive workflow efficiency, streamline quant analysis, and improve investment outcomes.

  • Investment Architecture: Analytical, architecture-oriented mindset with experience driving the investment platform development lifecycle (from requirements through testing and delivery) in close partnership with technology teams.

  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to translate and present complex quantitative concepts to large, diverse audiences.

  • Professional Qualities: Detail-oriented, collaborative, self-directed professional with a genuine passion for financial markets, innovation, and working in a fast-paced environment.

Fidelitys Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.

The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $200,000 per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidates relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
