Position Description:

Develops front-end applications using Java, J2EE, and Spring frameworks. Develops REST Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) concepts by leveraging Spring Boot with Tomcat. Crafts, builds, and provides advanced software solutions using PL/SQL. Deploys applications in a DevOps environment using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines (Maven, Jenkins, and Stash). Uses component-based frameworks (Angular) to design, develop, and implement Web applications in a dynamic nancial services environment via JavaScript. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.

  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.

  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.

  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.

  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.

  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.

  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.

  • Responsible for meeting project goals on time and on budget.

  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.

  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.

  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.

  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.

  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.

  • Mentors junior team members.

  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

  • Providing technical mentorship to junior engineers, fostering growth through code reviews, guidance, and knowledge sharing.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) working on Enterprise Java applications using Java/J2EE, Restful services, and Spring in support of system integration, acceptance, and performance for production environments.

Or, alternatively, Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) working on Enterprise Java applications using Java/J2EE, Restful services, and Spring in support of system integration, acceptance, and performance for production environments.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (DE) modernizing platforms within banking and financial services; transforming legacy Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) based applications into scalable, secure RESTful services on Azure; architecting robust web applications using Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Microservices, and Spring MVC; and designing and implementing RESTful APIs using Spring, Hibernate, Apache Camel, Apache ActiveMQ, and Ehcache, to support business and end-user needs, and enhancing performance, maintainability, and cloud readiness across production systems.

  • DE designing use cases for interactive Web applications and analyzing application logs and credential cookies using Splunk or Datadog; integrating customer-facing web applications with performance monitoring tools (JMeter and JProfiler); and implementing Java monitoring solutions to ensure scalability, reliability, and optimal system behavior across distributed environments.

  • DE performing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and version control using Maven, Git, Jenkins, AWS Kubernetes, and Docker; and building and packaging artifacts (with source code quality gate and code coverage) using plug-ins --SonarQube and Jenkins into Artifactory.

  • DE administering defined benefit pension plans and solutions -- 401a, 415b, 417e, Non-Qualified SERP, FICA, and disbursement payment procedures in compliance with Federal, State, IRS, and ERISA laws and taxes.
