THE ROLE
Fidelity Investments Workplace Investing (WI) is actively seeking an experienced Director of Database Administration to lead a team of dedicated and experienced DBAs. The associate will help us drive strategic database initiatives in support of our business strategy both in the US and globally. This is a highly visible, dynamic role supporting critical platforms with a global, follow-the-sun operating model.
THE PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Director sets database strategy, drives operational excellence, and ensures resilient, secure, and scalable databases for Workplace Investing. The Director is accountable for team performance, production stability, lifecycle risk reduction, and delivery against long-term architecture and business goals.
THE EXPERTISE YOU BRING
Deep expertise in enterprise database operations across Oracle, Postgres, Yugabyte, Aerospike, SQL Server and SQL MI
Expertise and hands-on knowledge in Performance tuning, scripting and automation a strong plus
Strong leadership in TLM, including patching and end-of-life software management
Shown success running programs spanning multiple applications and customer groups
Ability to direct a team with 24x7 production support and active incident management
Knowledge and expertise in on-prem, cloud and hybrid DBA operations
THE SKILLS YOU BRING
Strong executive communication skills; regularly present strategy, risks, and progress to senior management
Demonstrated experience hiring, mentoring, and coaching junior DBAs
Ability to operationalize solutions and ideas into standard operating procedures (SOP)
THE TEAM
The WI DBA team is a diverse group of experienced DBA who support the databases of Workplace Investing. The group supports a large number of complex and critical databases serving a diverse set of businesses.
Fidelitys Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
