Job Role Description

Responsible for having a strong understanding of safety, health, and environmental requirements (SHE), regional regulatory requirements, and provide subject matter expertise within their discipline related to maintenance, construction, projects, etc. They are a subject matter expert for ensuring safe and effective planning and execution as required. They are a site expert in processes and procedures, technical matters, and equipment that apply to their area of expertise. They are able to provide support and / or guidance for design reviews and may assist engineering for routine maintenance as well as Turnaround, or new project support. They are able to influence without authority and interacts effectively with operation, maintenance, and engineering organizations. They demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups; able to network effectively within organizations. They serve as a mentor and provide expertise across the broader organization.

 

Location: Lagos, with regular offshore visits

Job Role Responsibilities

What will you do?

    Implements maintenance design philosophies for specific mechanical equipment
b)     Provides technical support and coordination across business lines
c)     Supports coordination of cost management and productivity improvement plans
d)     Provides troubleshooting complex issues and operations support
e)     Provides technical support and input to training development and delivery
f)     Shares Best Practices and provides feedback
g)     Develops strong personal expertise, shares knowledge with others
h)     Serves as a mentor and provides expertise across the broader organization

 

About you | Skills & Qualifications

Minimum Higher National Diploma in Instrumentation and Controls, City and Guilds level 4 in Mechanical; or equivalent qualifications in an oil and gas industry specific apprenticeship program. A BSc in engineering or related sciences without a HND diploma is acceptable IF there is already established and verifiable working experience as an mechancial technician in the oil and gas industry for at least 5 years. Note however that this is strictly a technician role.

Minimum 5 years relevant mechanical technician work experience

Must be a Nigerian citizen, must have completed Youth Service with NYSC discharge certificate OR exemption letter

 

Experience

Ability to adapt, creativity and innovation, good understanding and identification of workplace hazards; analytical and courage of conviction. Ability to influence without authority and interacts effectively with operation and maintenance organizations. Demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups; able to network effectively within organizations.

1. Technical Knowledge & Equipment Operation: Previous FPSO experience preferred
2. Good knowledge of Instrumentation / Mechanical and Hands-On Skills: basic understanding and ability to perform minor repairs, routine maintenance, and adjustments on equipment; ability to read and interpret transmitters, sensors, gauges, and control valves; familiarity with ESD, Fire & Gas (F&G) systems, and their role in process safety
3. Versatile with basic Work Management Practices, and CMMS (SAP) to raise notifications, manage workorders, and search for materials 
4. Read and interpret the suppliers / manufacturers documents and identify spare parts.    Understand and interpret the content of technical manuals and instruction manuals
5. Specific technical knowledge on Gas & Diesel generators, Pumps (including submersible), Compressors, Pipe work, HVAC equipment, Electrical drive motors, Process and Utilities valves (all types), etc.
6. Good attention to Detail. Ability to observe equipment performance and detect abnormalities and understanding what next to do; maintain accurate maintenance logs and reports; ability to identify and mitigate workplace hazards. Should understand what constitutes a hazard and control/mitigation
