Experienced Analyst/Associate Equity Capital Markets (Syndicate) New York, NY
Group Description: Equity Capital Markets (ECM) originates, advises, structures, and executes equity and equity-linked offerings for corporates and financial sponsors. ECM sits at the intersection of Evercores investment banking advisory business and the Evercore ISI research / sales & trading business. ECMs activities include IPOs, follow-ons, convertible/derivative strategies, as well as other equity-adjacent advisory work around capital structure analysis and M&A.
What's the Position? We are seeking an Analyst or Associate to join our Equity Capital Markets Syndicate team. The Syndicate team sits at the intersection of Equity Capital Markets, Investment Banking and the public equity markets and plays a central role in the marketing, execution and distribution of equity and equity-linked transactions.
The Analyst/Associate will work closely with senior members of the ECM team on the execution of IPOs, follow-on offerings, convertible securities and other equity capital markets transactions. The role provides significant exposure to live transactions, institutional investors, Equity Sales & Trading, corporate clients and financial sponsors.
This is a highly execution- and markets-oriented role requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, sound judgment and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have 13 years of experience in investment banking or capital markets and a strong interest in public equity markets.
Primary Responsibilities: Analysts and Associates in ECM Syndicate participate in the execution of deal activity and work closely with senior Syndicate professionals throughout the transaction process. Specific responsibilities include:
- Supporting the execution of equity and equity-linked transactions, including IPOs, follow-on offerings, and convertible securities
- Working closely with senior Syndicate professionals throughout the transaction process, including positioning, launch, bookbuilding, pricing, allocation, and closing
- Monitoring and analyzing order books and investor demand, including order quality, concentration, price sensitivity, momentum, and investor participation
- Coordinating with Equity Sales to gather and synthesize investor feedback on live and prospective transactions
- Analyzing transaction sizing, pricing, allocations, trading dynamics, and aftermarket performance to help inform execution strategy
- Monitoring equity market conditions, new issuance activity, investor sentiment, comparable companies, and precedent transactions
- Preparing market updates, transaction materials, investor feedback summaries, pricing analyses, and other materials for internal and client discussions
- Analyzing companies, sectors, corporate filings, shareholder data, and broader ECM market trends
- Building relationships and coordinating with members of the broader Evercore team across Investment Banking and Evercore ISI Research, Sales & Trading
- Maintaining and analyzing internal deal, investor, and ECM issuance databases and supporting broader ECM business development initiatives
Qualifications: Analysts and Associates in ECM play a vital role in building Evercores underwriting business. We are looking for excited, creative, organized, and resourceful multi-taskers with high intellectual curiosity and the long-term orientation to help build the premier independent ECM franchise.
- Bachelors degree with a strong academic record
- 13 years of professional experience in Equity Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Equity Sales & Trading, Syndicate, or another relevant capital markets role
- Prior ECM or equity markets experience preferred, but not required
- Strong interest in public equity markets and transaction execution
- Strong understanding of financial statements, valuation, and fundamental corporate finance concepts
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to quickly interpret market data, investor demand, and transaction dynamics
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work under tight deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to synthesize complex market and investor information into concise, actionable conclusions
- Ability to manage multiple live transactions and competing priorities in a fast-paced, market-driven environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team-first approach, with the ability to work effectively across Investment Banking, ECM, Sales & Trading, Research, and other functions
- High degree of initiative, intellectual curiosity, ownership, and sound judgment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Bloomberg, CMG, iPreo, or other capital markets platforms preferred
- FINRA Series 7, 63, and 79 licenses preferred, or ability to obtain required licenses following hire
Expected Base Salary Range: $120,000 - $185,000
