Technical Analyst/Specialist - Databricks Platform (all humans)

We are looking for an Analyst / Technical Specialist to support the ongoing development, adoption, and daily operations of the Erste Databricks Platform.

The role is positioned between users, data teams, platform engineers, and other stakeholders. The main focus is to understand business needs, translate them into clear requirements, support technical implementation, and help ensure that the Databricks platform delivers value in a secure, efficient, and scalable way.

The ideal candidate has a mix of analysis skills and technical understanding, with experience or interest in cloud data platforms, Azure, Terraform, Python, SQL, and modern data governance practices. The candidate does not need to fulfill every requirement but should be willing to learn and grow in the role.

What to do:

  • Work daily with Databricks users to understand their requests, challenges, and goals.
  • Translate their needs into clear functional and technical requirements.
  • Support the Erste Databricks Platform team in prioritizing, analyzing, and delivering user requests.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, platform engineers, architects, security teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Help design and document platform processes, user journeys, and operational procedures.
  • Support onboarding of new users, use cases, and data products onto the Databricks platform.
  • Analyze issues, clarify requirements, and coordinate resolution with the relevant technical teams.
  • Support improvements in data lifecycle management, governance, cost awareness, and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to platform documentation, knowledge sharing, and best-practice guidelines.
  • Help ensure that platform usage aligns with internal standards, security requirements, and governance principles.
  • Stay informed about current AI, analytics, and data platform trends and assess their potential relevance for business users.

You check these boxes:

  • Experience as an Analyst, Technical Specialist, Data Analyst, Platform Analyst, or similar role.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of data platforms, data pipelines, analytics, or cloud-based solutions.
  • Hands-on experience or working knowledge of SQL.
  • Experience with Databricks or similar cloud data platforms.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services and cloud concepts.
  • Understanding of infrastructure-as-code concepts, preferably Terraform.
  • Ability to document requirements, processes, user stories, and technical concepts clearly.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and understand complex platform environments.

Nice to have:

  • Experience or basic knowledge of Python.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD concepts, DevOps practices, Git, or automated deployment pipelines.
  • Understanding of FinOps, cloud cost optimization, usage monitoring, and cost transparency.
  • Knowledge of data lifecycle management, including retention, archiving, and data quality considerations.
  • Understanding of data governance, access management, lineage, cataloging, and compliance-related topics.
  • Awareness of current AI trends, including GenAI, machine learning platforms, data products, and responsible AI.
  • Experience in a banking, financial services, or regulated enterprise environment.
