EY GDS Risk Consulting Process & Controls - Senior (Energy Sector)

 

 

Role Summary

 

We are seeking an accomplished Senior for the EY GDS Risk Consulting Process & Controls team. The role involves executing, supporting and leading, whenever required, the internal audits, internal controls assessments, business process reviews, and sector-focused risk consulting engagements for global clients. You will collaborate with EY member firms worldwide, leveraging advanced technologies and industry-leading practices to deliver high-quality outcomes.

 

 

The opportunity

 

This is a client-facing role in a rapidly growing practice. You will work closely with stakeholders on complex risk, process, and controls engagements while contributing to the development of innovative, technology-enabled solutions, leveraging propriety (emerging) tools and technologies - such as GenAI, Advanced Analytics and RPA. Youll gain broad exposure across global Energy clients, strengthening your domain expertise and developing client handling and managing capabilities for the future engagements.

 

 

Your key responsibilities

 

Engagement delivery

  • Independently execute and deliver Internal Audit, SOX, and process review engagements with minimal supervision.
  • Execute engagement workplans end-to-end, ensuring adherence to EY quality standards, timelines, and defined scope.
  • Perform detailed process walkthroughs and testing across multiple business processes and areas related to Energy sector including sector trends, regulatory reforms, and emerging risks (e.g., energy transition, decarbonization, grid modernization, safety & environment regulations, supplier evaluation, etc.)
  • Identify control gaps, operational inefficiencies, and compliance risks, and deliver practical, implementable recommendations aligned to leading Energy industry practices.
  • Prepare high quality audit documentation and working papers that are clear, evidence based, and defensible.
  • Actively track engagement milestones, identify issues, and provide concise status updates to engagement leadership and client stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify engagement risks and escalate issues in line with firm protocols to ensure timely resolution.

 

Market, leadership and growth

  • Build effective working relationships with client counterparts through consistent, high quality execution and professional interactions.
  • Partner with global EY member firm teams to gain a strong understanding of Energy business, including energy transition, decarbonization, grid modernization, safety & environment regulations etc.
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives by applying data analytics, automation, and digital audit techniques to strengthen execution efficiency and coverage.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging risks, and operational practices to enhance audit execution quality.
  • Work closely with global sector and regional teams to support delivery across accounts.
  • Participate in Energy sector pursuits by providing practical execution insights, risk considerations, and delivery focused inputs.


Operational excellence

  • Suggest ideas to improve engagement productivity, testing efficiency, and documentation quality.
  • Manage engagement budgets at the workstream level and ensure alignment with engagement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with EY internal quality, risk management, and documentation standards.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and reportwriting skills.
  • Proficiency with GenAI tools, MS Office, data analytics, and data validation.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and deliver results within tight deadlines.
  • Big Four or top-tier consulting experience preferred.

 

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

 

  • 1-5 years of post-qualification experience in consulting or industry roles focusing on process and controls, internal audits, internal controls and business process evaluation.
  • Experience delivering or supporting client engagements across multiple sectors / industries (Energy sector experience would be a plus).
  • Preferable endtoend understanding of the Energy value chain, covering supplier management, contract management, regulatory compliances, project reviews, ESG reporting, procurement, location reviews, workforce planning & mobilization, etc.
  • Strong multi project execution and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in distributed teams and global delivery models.
  • Ability to think practically, identify execution challenges, and propose workable solutions.

 

 

Ideally, youll also have

 

  • Hands-on experience executing audit engagements while actively guiding junior team members on day-to-day execution standards, documentation quality, and consistent application of audit methodologies.
  • Actively support teams during fieldwork and review phases, ensuring adherence to execution standards and consistent delivery quality.
  • Experience supporting sector specific upskilling initiatives, processes, or technologies.
