Your key responsibilities
Contribute to the growth of the Data & AI Practice for EY Romania, defining the vision, roadmap, and priorities for data platform and analytics services in alignment with EY global strategies and local market needs
Provide overall leadership for data delivery engagements, overseeing multiple projects end-to-end, ensuring quality, risk management, commercial success, and client satisfaction
Lead, grow, and mentor the data architecture and engineering teams, shaping skills, career development, ways of working, and a strong high-performance culture
Actively contribute to business development, including solution shaping, proposal development, client presentations, and identification of new data and analytics opportunities with existing and prospective clients
Design and architect scalable, secure, and high-performance modern data platforms using Databricks and cloud-native technologies
Lead the implementation and modernization of enterprise data ecosystems, including data ingestion, transformation, storage, analytics, and governance capabilities
Define and implement data lakehouse architectures leveraging Databricks to support advanced analytics, BI, AI/ML, and regulatory reporting use cases
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data strategies, governance frameworks, operating models, and best practices for enterprise data management
Evaluate and recommend data platforms, tools, and capabilities to enhance client data maturity, platform performance, and long-term scalability
Ensure data solutions are optimized for performance, reliability, cost efficiency, and security, implementing continuous improvements as needed
Support the integration of data engineering, analytics, and machine learning workloads within Databricks environments
Advise clients on data modernization journeys, including migration from legacy data warehouses and fragmented data platforms to cloud-based lakehouse architectures
Skills and attributes for success
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
Minimum of 8 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or analytics platform design, with at least 5 years in a senior or lead role
Strong experience designing and delivering modern data platforms on cloud environments, with hands-on expertise in Databricks as a core technology
Proficiency in data engineering and transformation technologies such as SQL, Python, Spark, PySpark, and orchestration / pipeline development tools
Strong understanding of Databricks Lakehouse architecture, Delta Lake, notebooks, jobs, workflows, cluster management, and performance optimization
Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, including related data services and ecosystem integration
Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT design patterns, data warehousing, data lakes, and large-scale distributed data processing
Experience with data governance, data quality, metadata management, lineage, and security controls across enterprise data platforms
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment; strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken) and demonstrated integrity in a professional environment
Ideally you`ll also
Hold databricks-related certifications such as Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate / Professional or Databricks Certified Solution Architect
Possess certifications on cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, especially in data engineering or analytics specializations
Demonstrate experience with Unity Catalog, MLflow, Delta Live Tables, Databricks Workflows, and other advanced Databricks capabilities
Have exposure to real-time / streaming data technologies, such as Kafka, Spark Structured Streaming, or event-driven architectures
Showcase experience supporting AI/ML use cases on top of Databricks platforms
Be familiar with BI and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
