Full Job Description

Role Summary

As an Assistant Manager within Finance Operate, you will support the delivery of high-quality financial reporting and statutory compliance services to clients. This includes the preparation and review of Annual Financial Statements (AFS), managing junior team members, and ensuring audit-ready outputs in line with IFRS and EY quality standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Delivery

  • Prepare and review Annual Financial Statements (AFS) and financial reports in compliance with IFRS
  • Support delivery across multiple client engagements, ensuring timelines and quality expectations are met
  • Liaise with clients and auditors, including responding to audit queries and resolving issues
  • Ensure all deliverables are audit-ready and supported by appropriate working papers

Technical Accounting

  • Apply IFRS and IFRS for SMEs in financial statement preparation
  • Perform analysis, validation and reconciliation of financial data
  • Prepare calculations supporting disclosures (e.g. PPE, leases)
  • Escalate complex accounting issues where appropriate

Engagement Management

  • Manage day-to-day execution of client engagements
  • Coordinate timelines, deliverables and stakeholder interactions
  • Support efficient utilisation and delivery tracking

People & Teaming

  • Supervise and review work of junior team members
  • Provide coaching and on-the-job training
  • Contribute to a high-performance team

Continuous Improvement

  • Support standardisation of reporting processes and templates
  • Contribute to process improvements and efficiencies
  • Leverage tools such as CaseWare and other reporting technologies

 

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong IFRS and financial reporting capability
  • High attention to detail and quality focus
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Team leadership and supervision capability

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • CA(SA) or equivalent (preferred)
  • 35 years experience in financial reporting, accounting or audit
  • Proven experience in preparation of AFS (IFRS-compliant)
  • Experience in professional services environment advantageous
  • Experience with CaseWare or similar tools preferred

 

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Experience in professional services environment preferred
  • Ability to operate in a structured, fast-paced client delivery
